Dear
Advocate,
On behalf of the Childhood Stroke Awareness Campaign, I would like to thank you for your commitment to increase awareness
of strokes that occur in infants, children, and even before birth. May 3, 2008 has been
proclaimed Childhood Stroke Awareness Day, and the CSA Campaign has developed this Awareness Kit to help you
in your efforts.
The CSA
Campaign was organized by a grassroots effort of Hemi-Kids list members and sponsored by CHASA (Childrens Hemiplegia
and Stroke Association) in 2002. In February of 2006, CHASA transferred the coordination of the campaign to Dawn Marie
Perkins, mom of an intrauterine stroke survivor.
The CSA Campaign depends on people like you to help us educate the public about the occurance of childhood
stroke in infants, children and even in unborn babies. Childhood Stroke Awareness' committed volunteers graciously give their time to educate everyone about childhood stroke survivors
throughout the world. We’re excited to include you in our family of volunteers.
This awareness kit has information on Childhood Stroke Awareness Day (community activities, gaining proclamations and
raising awareness in your community) Monies raised from events can be sent to CHASA and designated to the Childhood Stroke
Research Fund and/or other support projects sponsored by CHASA.
While this kit has been designed to help guide your volunteer efforts to raise awareness for childhood stroke, it should by no means be considered the final word. Please share your ideas and experiences with us so that, together, we can continue to grow this annual event. Childhood Stroke Survivors and
their families are counting on us.
Sincerely,
Dawn Marie
