We have been informed by Alan Blinder, Director of the Pediatric Stroke Initiative at the University of Alabama, that
Congress was not able to pass the resolution on time for May 2, 2009 - Childhood Stroke Awareness Day. He has been in contact
with both houses with his disappointment in this development but states that both houses have put together bills recognizing
childhood stroke, which will go to the floor - supposedly - in the next week or so. Senator Robert Casey is the lead sponsor
for the Senate bill, which doesn't have a number yet, and Congressman John Boozman, Republican of Arkansas, is the sponsor
for H. Res. 451.
PLEASE Contact your Senator and Congressperson TODAY and let them know that it's important to you, your family, your child
and children all over the country (and world) that they support and/or co-sponsor these bills. The fastest way to do this
is to CALL them! Perhaps you may even want to make a face-to-face visit WITH your child so they can see that Childhood Stroke
is REAL!!!! It does happen to infants, kids and even unborn babies....that it IS happening and we need their help in making
sure that EVERYONE knows this!!!!
If you are not sure who your senator or congressperson is, you may use our lookup tool found on the Contacting Your Legislators
& the Media page. If you need any help, please let us know.

Running a campaign is a significant challenge. It is difficult to get a message out to as many people as possible in
a short time. This web site is a great way to quickly introduce ourselves and educate visitors on the importance of pediatric
stroke, it's impact on the child and their family, and raising awareness. We hope this site will help you
find a support system, guidance to help spread the word about pediatric stroke or even read other's inspirational
stories! We are targeting our focus in a different direction this year - one that emphasizes our survivors
and their stories. Our efforts also include advocating for more research funding to help families
affected by pediatric stroke get the answers they seek about cause, treatment, effects and prevention. We will also
still advocate for proclamations and legislative support from our elected officials as it is important to keep our legislators
informed about what is important to us.
