A Message from the Superintendent
April 20, 2009
Dear Northbridge Community,
I am thrilled to be the new Northbridge Superintendent of Schools! Activities during the first days, weeks and months of
any leadership transition are extremely important. This is especially true in the complex and dynamic times we currently live.
Educational, community, political and financial interests are often important factors. Students, families, and our mission
should be the core of our work.
Northbridge Public Schools Mission Statement ~
“The Northbridge Public Schools are committed to providing high-quality, educational opportunities for all students.
We strive for excellence by enabling every student to become a caring and competent individual, a responsible and productive
citizen, and a lifelong learner.”
Please take time to review my Entry and Learning Plan. Also, hard copies are available in the Superintendent’s Office, main offices in each school and the public library.
The purposes and general goals of the entry and learning process are delineated on pages 3 and 4 of the plan. Joanne Melia
will be contacting Selectmen, Finance Committee members, School Committee, school administrators, school council members and
PTA with the hope that you will take time out of your busy day to talk with me about the Northbridge Public Schools. If you
would like to state your interest in participating in the process or meeting individually, please call 508.234.8156 or email
jmelia@nps.org. Written comments may be posted at superintendententry@nps.org.
Your input will provide valuable information and help me become an effective superintendent. I want to gain an understanding
of the entire community and have you get to know me. It is important to build trust and confidence and have an appreciation
of one another. Together we will craft a strategic plan with long term goals and short term objectives to make our public
schools second to none!
I look forward to meeting and working with you. The future of our schools depends on what we set in motion today.
Sincerely,
Susan M. Gorky
