For Release:
It
is futile to believe that the issue of female circumcision or FGM is localized or unique to Africa
and certain eastern countries. It is no longer what happens over there, but rather a matter for global consideration.
The time has come for us to acknowledge FGM as a global issue and therefore,
our problem.
Gone
are the days when individuals are restricted to regions or places. A girl that was circumcised in a remote village in
Africa could become a resident anywhere around the globe. Intelligent, tenacious and attractive, she’s likely to gain
male attention like any other beautifully endowed female. After all,
the desire of the heart knows no boundary. This is the case of Kesson and Candice, the main characters in Saving Bekyah.
He is an America male attracted to an African woman. In the bedroom, the procedure that was performed in a remote village
in Africa some thirty years earlier has become his problem. Some would argue that female circumcision has no effect
on men; only a hedonistic person would agree with this.
Saving Bekyah advocates an end
to this dehumanizing act, reconciliation for victims and offers insights to an unsuspecting man confronted with this once
alien issue.
