Tiger is a cat that I fostered for KittyKind. He is declawed and afraid of the other cats that I have. The stress is
not good for him, but there was never any place to put him. Tiger was taken in and an Intake fee was paid.
He was
described as a "Special Needs Cat". He was labeled Unadoptable. Tiger suddenly got crystals that blocked his bladder. I could
not take him to the emergency room in Brooklyn, they only take cash or credit cards. They referred me to the Animal Medical
Center. I made a few calls and could not reach anyone at KittyKind. I called a vet tech in Brooklyn who said he needed help
ASAP or he could die within 24 hours. It could not be left for the next day when KittyKind's vet opened.
Tiger went
to the Animal Medical Center. He was in such bad shape they kept him for a day or two. He needed around the clock monitoring
of antibiotics and intravenous fluids.

After much debate,
Mediation and lawsuit, KittyKind started paying the bill and I continued receiving late notices from the Animal Medical Center
until almost 7 months later it was paid in full.
KittyKind promised to pay for his vet costs, fluids and special diet
if I would keep him and 3 months later sent a letter to my vet saying they would no longer pay for his meds etc. They never
notified me - the letter was sent to my vet.
Now KittyKind calls these cats "Special Needs Cats" and promotes for adoption - and they do get adopted! So for
all the years I held onto their "unadoptable" cats I realize that forcing them to take responsibility in some small way forces
them to be more creative about how to "sell" a particular cat. I'm not surprised.
