A NEW Message From Tom

What can I say to thank you all for what you have done for me and my family? There are no words. I have undergone a double lung transplant and feel like a new man. The first few months were a struggle that I didn't think I would make through but here we are today almost looking and feeling like I was never sick. If you could only see me. I had hoped that once the operation was complete I would no longer need all the help I have been getting and the members of Operation Breathe Easy could have a break. But I continue to find new expenses (like a bimonthly trip to PA for tests and some unbelievable medication co-pays (thank God for insurance). And so I continue to lean on my friends and they continue to give up some parts of their lives, if you will, to help me. Thank you again to all those who have donated your time or money or both. Don't ever think that it is not appreciated - Tom

I wanted to write a message to the members of Operation Breathe Easy and all those of you who have helped me in the past two years, but I am finding it difficult to do without being overly dramatic or emotional. To have gone from self sufficient and healthy to being unemployed, dependant on oxygen, and unable to walk even short distances has of course been a big adjustment in my life. I find myself leaning more and more on the help of others (especially my wife Cathy) and I wanted to thank you all for what you have done (and continue to do) for me. I made a comment to one of my doctors about friendships during chronic illness and he told me that for every person who stands by you 10 will stop coming around. Well that shows you who your real friends are. I can never repay any of you in any meaningful way but if my prayers are answered, your kindness and generosity will be returned to you over and over again plus interest. Thank you. Tom
