Why should we work together to protect the Hunt River Watershed?

Water from the Hunt River Aquifer supplies drinking water to our community.

The Hunt River and the many brooks and streams in its watershed create a complex habitat for planets, insects, fish and wild animals that need a healthy environment to survive.

What can you do to protect the Hunt River Watershed?

1.     Properly maintain your septic system.

2..    Don’t over water your lawn and understand how to use your automatic sprinkler system.

3.       Avoid using lawn fertilizer and herbicides.

4..      Respect and honor set-backs that protect wetlands.

5..      Properly dispose motor oil, paint, household cleaners and solvents.

6. Keep trash and waste away from storm drains.
