Hockey Coach Coach Fay grew up in the Boston area began playing ice hockey during the golden days with Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins. Like many other in the area, he played at the youth hockey and high school level. After graduation, he attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT. Upon graduating in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and became a Naval Aviator (helicopters) in 1980. For the next 18 years, Coach Fay served in a variety of Marine aviation leadership positions and in 1988, was assigned to Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), Quantico, VA, serving as a Presidential Command Pilot and White House Liaison Officer. In 1992 Coach Fay attended the Naval Postgraduate School and graduated in 1995 with a Masters degree in Space Operations. After retirement form the Marine Corps in 1998, Coach Fays interest in Ice hockey was rekindled and he began working with Instructional students and progressively coached through various youth hockey levels. In 2002 Coach Fay stood up the first ice hockey club for Northwest High School and continued as head coach when Northwest and Seneca Valley High Schools combined to form the current Germantown Provisional Team. Coach Fay left the Germantown team in 2005 and was an assistant coach for Good Counsel during the 2005-2006 season. He continues his involvement with youth hockey and has coached at the Mite/Squirt/Peewee, and Bantam levels. A simple training philosophy of professionalism, hard
work and determination are the cornerstones of his
approach to coaching Good Counsel. Coach Fay holds an
Advanced Coaching Certificate from USA Hockey and resides
in Laytonsville, MD with his wife Romana and three
