August Canoe Trip - Last Minute Information
· Remember
that we will plan on wearing full Class A uniforms when we travel. Plan on leaving your uniform plus a set of dry socks and underwear in the cars before we leave on Saturday morning to go canoeing. You will need a set of dry clothes when
we get off the river.
· You will still need to take a dry set of clothes with you
on the canoe trip (not your uniform)
· Be sure that you have the ropes that we suggested and a kneeling pad or knee pads to wear in the canoe.
With the water being higher than normal you will need to be kneeling in the bottom of the canoe vs. setting
on the seats.
· Be sure to bring sunscreen and bug repellent, the islands that we will
be camping on will have plenty of them.
· Bring along a good pair of hiking boots or shoes if it is necessary to go to Plan B. If we can canoe, we
will leave them in the cars.
· Bring two quart or liter bottles for drinking water.
· Bring the four heavy duty garbage bags – you will need them to hold your tent when it is tied in the canoe to keep it from getting
wet.

Eagle Scout Project Workbooks and Eagle Applications
The Eagle Scout Project Workbooks and Eagle Application Forms have been changed and should reflect a date of issue of 2009.
Life Scouts – If you have not had your project approved, you must use the correct form. It can be reached by going to the
following site:
http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-927.pdf
This form can be filled out on your computer and can be saved to your hard drive with the data that you type in. I can
also be printed out and filled in by hand. Please do not try to create your own workbook. After you have filled in the project
approval section of the workbook, you can print it off so that it may be presented to the District Advancement committee for
approval.
If you already have your project approved you may continue to use the current forms.
Eagle Applications – the Eagle Application is now available at: http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-728_web.pdf and can be filled in from your computer. Please use this form. If you fill it in via computer, please save it
to a flash drive when you come to your Eagle Scoutmaster Conference so that I can make any changes if needed. You may also
print the blank form off and can fill it in by hand.
The link from our Troop Website to both these documents has been updated.
If anyone has any questions please contact me.

Committee Meeting Sunday Aug 2
This is to remind you that
the Troop has a Troop Committee Meeting on Sunday, August 2nd at 7:30 PM at the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. We will meet on the 2nd floor in the Cascade
Room. The ability of the troop to continue to have an interesting and active program depends on the willingness of the parents
and other adults associated with the troop to support the program. The committee meeting is where this all starts.
Please plan to make time to attend
and help with our program requirements
Hope to see you there
