This walk starts near the MacGill’s Common pool on Shaker Drive. The path is mostly level and shady with lots of playgrounds and benches along the way, some ponds, and a view of the Kings Contrivance restaurant.

You will walk for about 1 mile, and then stop at the Touché-Touchet Bakery. This is a lovely New Orleans style, dog-friendly bakery in the Atholton Shopping Center. The owners have set up tables outdoors, water dishes for dogs, and . . . they might even bring out some treats for your dog. Then, after coffee and treats, you can walk off the calories on the way back! An easy 2 miles, round-trip!

For those interested in continuing on a longer walk, Lake Elkhorn is less than a mile away from the same starting point at MacGill's Common Pool. The walk is along the very pretty Patuxent Branch Trail.
