Q. Won't the route be confusing with so many multi-use trails involved?
A. No one should get lost as long as they keep alert. Each participant will be provided
with a map of the route. Also, there will be:
- Black arrows with orange background to indicate turns
- Bright orange or pink survey tap to mark the trail pathway
- Yellow caution tape to cordon off confusing openings on the trails
- Signs for the various trail heads & road crossings
- A person who will sweep looking for stray wanderers
Q. What is the purpose of a checkpoint?
A. Checkpoints serve several purposes. They provide safety by keeping track of the progress of each participant (i.e. make
sure no-one gets lost); they provide hydration & nutrition (water, gatorade, cookies, fruit, etc.); allow you to drop
out it it's just not your day; and the CP volunters give you that extra encouragement you might need to get your second wind
to get you to the finish line.
