The
Practice of Eating When Eating
Our relationship to food is a central one. Most of us eat everday, several times each day. Are we awake or
asleep at the plate?
Alas, so often we eat mindlessly. We
frequently eat while working on our computer, watching TV, driving, reading, etc. What are the ramifications? Decreased
digestive capabilities, overeating and dissatisfaction to name just a few.
Eating mindfully on a regular basis can help us discover a far more satisfying relationship to food and eating than
we ever imagined or experienced before. A different kind of nourishment often emerges, the kind that offers satisfaction on
a very deep level.
If we're courageous enough to truly be present while eating, we may gain awareness of our actions, thoughts, feelings
and motivations, and insight into the roots of health and contentment.
In this experiential workshop, we will explore the elements of mindful eating, join in a mindful eating experience,
and share our awareness with each other. Then, for anyone who is inclined, we can step up our practice at the High Point Cafe
afterwards!
