We seek to have a balance in our lives of worship, education/formation, service, and recreation so that the full meaning of Sabbath can be experienced. No one is expected to do everything in our parish calendar, so look and pray about what may be important to you today...

Be sure to check our worship/announcements page for the latest news on parish schedules.

Sunday worship is
8:00 AM Holy Eucharist Rite I with minimal music
10:00 AM Holy Eucharist Rite II with full choir

Sundays at 9:00 AM see education programs for adults during the school year, and breakfasts hosted by various parish ministry groups during the summer. At 10:00AM the Christian Formation for Children meets. Childcare is provided year round for the 10:00 service and special events, though babies and older children are encouraged to be in church.

After the 10:00 service is a social time every Sunday, and often a special program of education/formation, such as Welcome Classes for newcomers, or arts progams such as dramas, dance, or visual exhibits.

The rest of the week we have a growing schedule of weekday worship.

On Mondays through Fridays we serve on average 60 hungry people a hot meal on our patio (this being Southern California, we rarely have to move inside because of the weather!).

During the school year we have at least one Bible Study a week on weekday mornings and evenings. Also the choir practices Thursday evenings, the model railroad group meets weekly, the stitching group meets every Tuesday morning, youth and children groups get together. Community groups meet weekly at St. Matthias, including A.A. Tuesdays at 7:00 PM and the Whittier Area Peace and Justice Coalition on Thursdays.

In the fall and spring we have special weekly programs that last for a couple months that cover a wide range of topics and interests, with each evening beginning with prayers and a meal.
