Thank you for visiting my web site on the Internet. I am an extra class licensed radio amateur and have been licensed since 1962. I am retired from the US Dept. of State, where I traveled worked and lived in many countries around the world (see list). I was also fortunate enough to be able to operate amateur radio from many exotic places. Some other call signs I have held are: WA2WYR, WV2WYR, KL7HJJ, G5DAS, WA2WYR/CE2, WA2WYR/CX, AP/WA2WYR, HS1AOC - HS0ZDJ, and V26YR. You may click on some of these call signs for additional info and log searches.

My location (QTH) is a small coastal town in New Jersey called Avon-by-the-Sea. It is in Monmouth County on the Atlantic Ocean seashore about 90 km south of New York City. I am surrounded on three sides by water and enjoy great radio propagation to Europe and Africa from this location. (See from Space)

I most enjoy CW (Morse code) operation, and also have capabilities for SSB, FM, RTTY, PACKET, PSK31 and AMTOR. I operate the following amateur radio bands 160, 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 meters and occasionally 6, 2, 1 1/4 & 70 cm. (click here for log search)

Radio contesting is my favorite pass time and I can be found on the air in most world wide contests. In my many years of contesting as a radio amateur, I have won several country and zone awards. (click here for contest history) I also hold the DXCC (cw), DXCC (mixed), DXCC (phone), DXCC (RTTY), 5BDXCC (with endorsements for 30, 17 & 12 meters), DXCC (challenge), DXCC Honor Roll, 5BWAS, VUCC (50 mhz) and WAZ awards.

LATEST CONTEST RESULTS: The 2008 ARRL DX contest (ssb) 154,971 points - Be sure to work W2YR in all contests!
