Welcome to the W5TX home page.  My name is Bob Hicks and my  station is located in Plano, TX.  I was first licensed at age 16 in 1951 as WN5TKB and later W5TKB.  The W5TX call was acquired in 1996 as a part of the vanity call process.  Amateur radio has been a large part of my life, being in no small part responsible for my choosing electronic engineering as a career.   Retired in 1991 after 32 years with Collins Radio/Rockwell Int’l.
