After Ann graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School she began working for Maryland Glass Company as a packer. She began her high school education by taking night classes; her goal was to be a physical education teacher. Being athletic and interested in sports, she closely followed the local soccer, softball, and baseball. Pas played on the soccer and softball teams; they met during victory celebrations and eventually began dating.

Having graduated from high school, Pas took the Civil Service examination and was fortunate enough to secure a job with the Post Office during these depression times. They were married shortly thereafter. When World War II began, Pas was urged to leave his job and go into defense work. However, he reasoned that after the war he would again be job hunting with everyone else. He joined the Navy which guaranteed his post office job when he returned.

After basic training, Pas was sent to Miami, Florida, to await shipping out. In the interim he was assigned to work in the fleet post office. Soon his name appeared on the roster to ship out. Ann and Kenny took the train down to see him off. The time came and went and he did not go. Ann and Kenny returned to Baltimore. This happened several times. Finally, they found a place to live and stayed in Miami. When the troops were discharged after the war, they returned home together.

Pas resumed his job at the Post Office, holding many different positions until he retired in 1975 with 38 years of service. However, retirement did not mean not working and after nine months of leisure, Pas took a job as a messenger for the First National Bank, a job where he could keep active and get outdoors. After seven years of full time work, he applied for social security and reduced his work to half time.
