2M.  Joseph Frederick Linz was born in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A., on Sunday, June 3, 1934, and died in Baltimore on January 6, 1998. He and Joan are twins. Dorothy Marilyn Monroe was born in Baltimore on Sunday, July 4, 1937. They were married in Baltimore on Saturday, September 14, 1957. She took the name Dorothy Marilyn Linz. He is the son of Conrad Julius and Anna Mary (Telljohann) Linz. She is the daughter of Earl Michael and Regina (Aut) Monroe. Her name, Aut, is shortened from the original Polish. They had three children:

Joe came in an awkward place in the sequence of his siblings. First, there were four girls, then his four brothers, then four more girls (five if you include Joan), then Joe.

Joe developed heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and emphysema shortly after he retired. After several years in and out of the hospital and complications of many and varied medications, Joe finally died of an opportunistic respiratory infection.
