My major projects included:

Designed a SQL database to track configuration, location and asset information of all Xerox Office Group servers, routers and switches.

Created Server Disaster Recovery Plans (SDRPs) for servers to participate in a Disaster Recovery drill at SunGuard in Philadelphia. I traveled to Philadelphia where we restored 5 NT and 3 UNIX servers, databases, Citrix and web functionality to achieve all goals for business restoration.

Xerox Corporation      Manager of LAN Operations      1/2000 - 12/2002
I managed a staff of 9 Network Analysts in a dynamic and rapidly changing division. My responsibilities included providing a highly available Windows NT & Windows 2000 based networking infrastructure. With over 180 servers worldwide and a growth rate of 50 servers per year I have a lot of experience with managing growth, prioritizing activities and project management. I was responsible for all email, file, print, PPTP, WINS services for this globally diversified division plus over 100 specialty application servers. Thinking globally, ensuring my solutions can scale to the entire organization, is a way of life for me.

Major projects included:

Architected and built a new Global Network to support Xerox’s Office Printing Business after it was spun off from Tektronix. Migrating over 2500 users with virtually no downtime or business interruptions.

Saved $250,000 per year for support of engineers in El Segundo, Ca by negotiating an agreement with EDS and eliminating double billing for support.

Created a 20-server Citrix server farm to support multiple Oracle based applications, Crystal reports and MS Office functions. This saved thousands of dollars per month in WAN circuit fees as we didn’t have to increase bandwidth to remote sites.

Supported load balanced Cold Fusion server farms to provide a redundant development, test and production server environment.

Architected a SAN based backup solution for over 100 servers utilizing Compaq tape libraries, SAN switches and Veritas Backup Exec.

Architected and built a “Partners DMZ” to enable a secured connection to Xerox Office Group business partners that were directly connected via frame relay circuits. This allowed Xerox vendors to access specific internal resources in a very secure fashion.

Directed the design of a web and SQL server based Change Management system utilizing Microsoft’s .NET technologies.

Directed the design of a web and SQL server based Time and Project Tracking system utilizing Microsoft’s .NET technologies.

Created standardized server build documentation and processes to enable the rapid deployment of new server hardware. Typically a couple of hours utilizing sysprep images and Ghost.

Transitioned to IBM X series servers, from Compaq servers, to take advantage of major price incentives that came from a corporate agreement with IBM.
