Instructions
for downloading files
On webpages, there are many
cues that a link exists, or that a file can be downloaded. I often find a single
mouse CLICK, gives me an error message though. In later operating systems (beyond
1997/8), there is a right click feature. Click on the right side of the MOUSE,
and options will come up, such as:
“Open”, “Open in New Window”, “PRINT”, “Save Target As”…..
Below are further
instructions to download text documents, and sound files from my webpages.
- Right click and select “SAVE TARGET AS”
- Choose file name and location on your hard disk (directly to your computer), or an external media drive,
such as a zip disk, or USB
port.
- After downloading the file, it should open with the proper extension (file type – which is after
the “.” in the file name.). If not, you can rename the file extension
to match the file downloaded (with initial (& complete) file name provided), and/OR right click to select “Open
With”, and choose the application needed to open this file (TYPE).
If you
have problems opening “.doc” files with Microsoft/APPLE Word, “.pdf” files with Adobe Acrobat, or
“.wma” files with Windows Media Player, please let me know!
