Black To Play

Idea: Coordinated Attack

1) ....       nd4

A "Pawn Grab" if White tries to capture Black's Knight, Black can then mate. 2)nd4, qg5, 3)g3, nh6 Mate! This is a "Bishop-Knight" "BoxMate" on the long diagonal.

2)bb2   n(d4)e2+

White "Fianchettos, Queen Side." Computer analysis shows that White can also play 2)be4, but still loses. Black "Checks and Forces" White's King into Position. This move also "Doubles" the Knights.

3) kh1      qg5

White's King is frightened by the attack and runs to his "Bedroom" to hide under the bed. Black "Threatens" 4)... qg2 Mate), which is a "Queen and Knight" "BoxMate"

4)rg1      qg4
White makes a "Defmate Move" to defend mate. Black's Queen has "Impunity." White isn't able to take the Queen due to 4)ng5, bg3 Mate, again the "Bishop-Knight" "BoxMate" on the long diagonal. Black must now "Defend his Queen."

5) h3      qh5

White "Attacks" Black's Queen attempting to "Drive it Away." Black's Queen again "Defends" and "Aligns Vertically with the King." This is an "X-Ray Attack" and a "Mating Attack." 6).... nh3, 7)gh, qh3 Mate.

6) be4      be4

A defensive exchange initiated by White.

7) ne4      nh3

The "Pawn Grab" further weakens White's position. Now if 8)gh3 qh3 9) rg2 qh3, 10)rh2 qf3+ 11)rg2 qe4 and black has a "winning endgame" due to the extra pawns.

8)nh2      nf2+

White "Interposes" the Knight to prevent a "Discovered Attack" and Black does a little "Pawn Removal" with a Knight Mating Sacrifice.

9) nf2      ng3 Mate

White's move is the "Only Legal Move," Black delivers a "Smothered Mate." Note the beautiful Knight Coordination used throughout this combination both with each other and with the Queen and pieces.
