Chess Puzzles And GamesThis page provides us with exercises that can improve our chess skills. Just as doing road work or woking out with weights increase an athlete's ability at various sports, exercises geared to chess improve one's chess skills. For example skill with the Knight in actual play can greatly improve your game. Working "The Knight's Tour" puzzle below will increase those skills. As you can see, right now we have only a few puzzles. I am asking you, the reader, to find more such puzzles on the internet, or if you are skilled at computer programming to create additional puzzles and submit them to me. I am especially looking for puzzles written in a form that can be easily embedded into a web page--javascript is ideal--but embeddable applets in other languages, Flash, Java, C or whatever are acceptable. So researchers and programmers its your move! The first three puzzles are variations of the famous Knight's Tour. By practicing with these puzzles and games you will improve your skill in handling the Knight in Chess. The Knight is a very valuable piece, it is very strong when it is close to the enemy King and the Knight can do one thing no other piece can do, it can deliver smothered mate. The Knight's TourTo Play: Click the square to which you want to move the Knight. The object is to move the Knight to each and every square on the chess board only once! Its harder than it looks and will increase your skill with the Knight in actual chess games. This is a fun way to sharpen your game.
