Dynamic Chess--Opening Repertoire--King's Gambit--Allgaier's Gambit

For our opening repertoir we have chosen the King's Gambit for a number of reasons. First it has a very high rating of wins statistically. Second, it is a very tactical opening that leads to exciting games. I recommend spending at least a half hour per day studying tactics--go to to my "Tactics" page for more information. If you have spent the time needed to learn your tactics you should do well with this opening. This opening is not in fashion currently with the masters and grand masters of tournament chess but it comes in quite handy for club players. Also the data bases are filled with interesting games played with this opening and one can easily go to those data bases and learn the tricks and traps of this opening. I have included in this website some of the more interesting games from these data bases as well as from my own games.

The Complete Dynamic Repertoire For White

1. Allgaier Gambit--This is the cornerstone of our repertoir. As mentioned above the statistics are best for this variation.

2. Fischer Defense--Black seeks to avoid the complications of the Kieseritzky and Allgaier variations by playing 3. ... d6. Here is my response tested by statistical analysis but not yet in actual play. Use it at your own risk.

3. Falkbeer Counter Gambit--Black seeks counterplay and with care can equalize.

4. King's Gambit Declined--Black can refuse the Pawn but statistics show that doing so would be an inferior resonse.

5. Nonsymetrical Responses To e4--Black Responds to e4 with moves other than e5.

Let's take a break!

Time on your hands? Don't play with yourself--chess I mean not the other thing! Make your own chess set out of paper! Don't use this set out of doors however!
