Fishing Pole--Sacrifice On g4-g5

This is a sacrifice that occurs most frequently in the Ruy Lopez--Berlin Defense but it does occur from time to time in other openings as well. The placement of the Knight or Bishop on g4-g5 can be done at any time in many games and is most provocative since it opens lines to possible mating attacks with Queen and Rook. Most of these examples show Black doing the sacrifice on g4 but White can get in on the fun as well sacrificing on g5. Of course before you make this kind of a move you must show restraint since the loss of a piece is nothing to sneeze at. The basic idea in most sacrifices is that if an opponent's piece is tied up, until he has a chance to free that piece, he is a piece down and so if an attacker is aggressive enough he will win the game--or at least regain his piece--before the defender is able to free the piece. Sometimes the opponent will decline the sacrifice but just having a Knight or Bishop sitting there is a threat of and by itself. A great chess champion once said, "The threat is often worse than the execution."

Our first example is a video from YouTube in which a Bishop is sacrificed on g4.

Is our greed for oil worth it?

Ye hypocrites ! are those your pranks?
To murder men and give God thanks!
Desist, for shame! – proceed no further;
God won’t accept your thanks for murder!

Outlaw Tasers

Tasers are firearms that inflict pain and death and yet are being used by Police and private guards without provocation. Tasers should be outlawed not only in Canada where the incident below happened but also in the U.S. and throughout the world. This video shows that the man in Canada was Tasered even though he had nothing in his hands which were clearly visible and was complying to the orders being given to him.
