When Black plays c5 in response to e4 we are playing the Sicilian Defense. Black's 5th move determines the variation. 5. ... a6 is the Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian Defense and White has a 36.2% chance of winning, a 33.3% chance of drawing and a 30.5% of losing. The game itself is very tactical so the stronger you are tactically the better your chances--another good reason to study your tactics. According to the statistics White's best response is 6. Be3. Control of the d5 square is essential in this variation. Also White often castles queenside here to even further emphasize the tactical nature of this opening. Here is a quickie game example:
