At all times seek to restrict the movement of your enemy's pieces in order to prevent them from moving into the battlefield. The Knight is especially vulnerable to such actions as we can see in the animation. Bishops can be blocked by placing Pawns on the same color as the Bishop. Another way of blocking is by placing pieces on lines that would otherwise by open--make sure these pieces are will protected. Another way to control your enemy's pieces is by chopping them off one way or another preferably by exchange. For example if an enemy Knight gets to the 5th rank chop it. If an enemy Bishop or Rook is exerting power from its position even if it is a distance away, chop it. As Evita said, "I kept my pormise, now you keep your distance.!"
