Avoid placiing a piece of higher value in one of the squares of a piece of lower value. This "Self Blocking" is not recommended in most instances. However, in some instances you may benefit from doing so. In the position shown here, White blocks his Rooks with his Queen and this may prevent an interesting combination. But in another position the placement of the Queen in front of the Rook could be beneficial turning the Queen into a nuclear warhead. This goes to show that judgement is needed not only in this position but in all positions given on this website.
