Food Pantry

The Wellesley Food Pantry opened in the summer of 1989, and continues to operate completely on a volunteer basis. The pantry is managed by Cynthia Scott and Pam Conover, with support from dozens of community volunteers.

To provide a monthly food supplement to Wellesley residents in need, the pantry depends on cash donations and non-perishable food drives held throughout the year by local houses of worship, schools, businesses, scout troops, and other organizations.

Roche Brothers, a local supermarket, provides a collection facility and very generous support for this program. Additionally, customers at Whole Foods Market may purchase items to be donated to the food pantry.

Approximately 200 families are registered to use the food pantry. As the number of clients continues to grow, so does the need for ongoing support from the Wellesley community.

The pantry welcomes the participation of the citizens of Wellesley to contribute funds or non-perishable food and to volunteer their assistance, especially for the Scouting for Food drive in November, our largest food drive of the year. The Wellesley Food Pantry is open to receive food donations on Mondays from 9:00-11:00 AM. The food pantry is open for clients on Tuesdays from 9:00-11:00 AM, as well as the second Tuesday evening of the month from 6:00-7:00 PM.

The food pantry is located in the basement of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church at 207 Washington Street (across the street from the Wellesley Hills Branch Library).

People needing assistance from the food pantry must pre-register in person at the Wellesley Friendly Aid office, located at 219 Washington Street. For questions about registration, please call (781) 235-3960.
