Sigrid Singdahl

Sigrid Singdahl is a Skaerjen raider Captain of the Rannulf-built Vestenmannavjar longboat Raseri, operating out of Grimstadd, the isle at the heart of Vesten lands that serves as a haven from the depredations of their mortal enemies, the apostate Vendel. She is also the bastard sister of the somewhat more famous Yngvild Olafsdottir, master Skaerjen and captain of the Revensj.

The tale of Sigrid's escape from the Vendel raiders that tortured and killed the rest of the family is worth recounting at another time. Suffice it to say she survived, and has grown into a dangerous and masterful longboat captain, a talented Skaerjen...and a cold-blooded killer of Vendel wherever she encounters them.

Sigrid is Valkyrie-like in appearance: tall, powerfully built, fair of complexion with slate blue eyes and blonde hair; she has the face of an angel, the balance of a dancer, and the chiseled physique of a Vesten berserker. She combines the native cleverness of a seasoned sea captain with the logical aptitude of a Skaerjen, and blends Vesten fearlessness with the irresistable fury of a berserker in battle.

Her raison d'etre -- the mission that has kept her alive and has turned her into what she is today -- is to take revenge on the all those she holds accountable for her husband's death. In other words, she believes ALL Vendel should meet God, and it is her job to arrange the interview.

Sigrid's story begins in The Ninth Island.
