The 'Quakers', or formally 'Religeous
Society of Friends', is a Christian based religion that was started
by George Fox in England and the Americas in the 1600s. Quakers
settled in small areas up and down eastern seaboard.
Rex
Riley and his wife Carol were the caretakers of a 432 acre Quaker
summer camp nestled in the foothills of the Shenandoah National
Park in Madison, Virginia.
During Rex's stay at 'Shiloh' there
were two explosive floods along the front of the camp. The 'Middle
River' as it is called, or the 'Conway River' on a map, rushed
with the fury of a 500+ year flood, followed 14 months later
by a 100 year flood. Both times the road was totally destroyed.
Carol
and Rex took pictures of this event and have them displayed within
these web pages.
