2007 Dague Reunion

 

 

Cousins, Here's the reunion update. Sorry for the delay. Cousin Dan

Dates: Fri. & Sat. August 10 & 11 - 2007

 

Location: Marshall County Fair Grounds in Moundsville, WV. Moundsville is located along the Ohio River on State Rt. 2 about 15 miles south of Wheeling, WV. I-70 runs from east to west at Wheeling with an I-470 by-pass around it. Off I-470 exit south on to WV State Route 2 or Ohio Rt. 7. Both will bring you to Moundsville. The Fairgrounds is located on 12th. Street to the east. If you travel on Ohio Rt.7, you will cross the bridge to Moundsville and you=re on 12th St. (Watch for Signs).

Schedule:

Friday B August 10th.

Friday Evening: (This is still tentative) A decorating get together at location 7 - 10 p.m. Mixer/Get Together with light snacks. Bring your own beverages. We will do this if they don't schedule another event in the building that night. We will not know until the week before.  If not available, we will go Dutch treat to a local eatery with a private room so we can eat & visit. If there is enough interest we may take an afternoon tour to the Cabela's Store at Dallas Pike (about a 20 minute drive). If you will let us know who all will be arriving on Friday, we will let you know the plans. If you can check in with us at 304-845-7646 or my cell 304-639-9933 when you arrive we can also give you the final plan.

Saturday B August 11.

Registration - 10:30 B Noon B A registration fee of $10.00 each immediate family is recommended to cover the cost of the set up and reunion expenses. If that is a hardship give what you can and if you have a large family please give a little more.

Picnic Lunch: 12:30 p.m.  Everyone that can is asked to bring covered dishes and or desserts. If you are traveling a long distance you are welcome to send us some money in advance and we will have food prepared and brought to the reunion for you or the local Kroger's (that has a nice deli) is less than a mile from the site. We will have plates and table service and some drinks available. Followed by: > Introductions   > Recognitions   > Family History Presentations  > Visiting  > Children=s Activities  > Silent Auction  > 50/50 & other raffles  > Special Presentations  > Displays >  Picture Taking > Optional Tours to local attractions, and plenty of visiting time.

Dinner: 7:00 p.m.  This will be a casual meal with some prepared foods and leftovers from lunch. We will past the hat for donations to cover the costs. We will need to get a pretty good idea of the number planning to attend to so we can make sure to have plenty to eat. Following dinner we will have plenty time to visit and fellowship. You are asked to bring your favorite game, so we can play cards, checkers, or whatever in groups and have a fun evening. There will be no outside entertainment, but we will have a sound system to play music in one end for those that care to dance or whatever. We may have some group singing or anyone that would desire to entertain for a while will be given the opportunity to share their talents. Someone suggested that we can have a "gong show" if anyone is interested for a little while.

Sunday B August 12th.

Church Services will be available at area churches, you can make your own plans with others at the reunion if you so desire.

Note: If you are planning to arrive earlier in the week, please let us know when you are arriving and where you are staying. We will try get together with you.

We need to have an idea of how many are attending on Saturday and if you plan to stay for Saturday night. You can sent an e-mail to: egdague@verizon.net or call 304-845-7647 (leave a voice mail message if we don=t answer) or mail a note to Dan Dague, 105 Sandy Ave., Moundsville, WV 26041 (Note: if you find out later you can attend please come. We will have some extra room).   Also, attached is a Souvenir order form. You can order any time prior to August 4 & we will have them for you at the reunion.  

You are invited to bring items for the following:

Wall of Fame: We will have a display area for information about members of our family that have made special achievements or received recognitions. Send information in advance or bring with you.                                         

Memorial Area:  An area will be available to post obituaries or information about our loved ones that we have lost since the 2005 reunion.

Genealogy Display Area: Everyone is welcome to bring their information. We will have a computer and hopefully a copier available to help share our information.

Family History Presentations: Anyone that would like to present information to the group may do so. Please let me know if you would like to and a how long you will need time wise. We need to keep these as brief as we can.

Silent Auction/Raffles: Anyone that would care to provide an item (something handmade/homemade, item from your part of the country or whatever) please bring it. Proceeds will help cover some of our reunion expenses.

Children=s Activities: We have a fun play area set up for the children and will keep them busy so you can visit and enjoy the reunion.

State Quarter Exchange: Earl Dague of Texas is organizing this and he urges everyone to bring the State Quarters from their part of the country and trade with those from different areas. That way we can get them from both mints.

Memorial Plagues Project:  We have a committee currently working on a Memorial Stone for Frederick H. Dague that will be placed at the Sand Hill Cemetery. The estimated cost of this project is $3200-3500 range. They have a nice design and now it is time to find the funding for it. Anyone that would like to make a donation or make a pledge can send it to Earl Dague, Chairperson, at  618 Weeping Oaks Lane, Spring, Texas 77388 or to Dan Dague 105 Sandy Ave., Moundsville, WV. Make checks to Dague Reunion Fund and mark: Memorial Stone Fund. See picture of proposed stone on next page.

Volunteers needed: We can use some help at registration on Saturday morning and assisting with the auction, 50/50 and raffle table in the afternoon along with those that will be in the genealogy area assisting many of us finding out where we fit into the family. Let me know if you would like to help out. Also, need some to help organize the food.

                                                AVAILABLE LODGING:

Most of the Moundsville Motels are pretty old and currently filled with construction workers and I would not         

recommend any of them right not.  Here are those in the area that might be best for you:

Van Dyne=s Motel: A small mom & pop motel located just across the bridge in Ohio. It is less than 2 miles from Fairgrounds. Clean and pretty nice. $45.00 range plus taxes etc. plus has a nice restaurant next door. Call Michele (evenings are best) at 740-676-3339 office or 740-676-4777 restaurant.

Bonnie Dwaine Bed & Breakfast: 888-507-4569 (very nice in Glen Dale about 3 miles away. Web Site: www.bonnie-dwaine.com).

Hampton Inn - (fairly new & nice) Exit 2-A off of I304-233-0440 Exit 2-A off of I-70. Many stay here.

Carrie Dague Book: It has been suggested that we have a supply of these available for sale at the reunion. I am working on this. If you would be interested in one or more please let us know so we can have an idea of how many to have available. I understand that some of done updates to her book and if anyone would like to make them available let us know how much and how many you will have available.

We urge everyone to pass word of this reunion on to other family members and anyone that will be interested. Also, if you know of other sites we should post it at, let us know. We are sending this to everyone we have email address or mailing address for whether they indicated they hoped to attend or not. When you receive this please check with other members of your family that are planning to attend and make sure they have received this info.  If you have addresses that you feel we may not have please send them to us ASAP. We understand that many of us are on a fixed income and these days it seems to be getting harder to make ends meet, (not to mention the cost of gas) so if the costs will be a hardship for you please come anyhow. We want as many as possible to attend and we=ll get the expenses covered.

 

Please try and let us know of the number attending from your family and if they are adults or children so we can be prepared for everyone.
