I have not done much research on this family. However, I find
various spellings; particularly in the 4th letter on which vowel is
used. Annan and Annen supposedly came from Scotland. It is also
possible that the family left Ireland for fear of persecution. At any
rate; our ancestor is believed to be General Joseph Annon who
reportedly came from Ireland. He had a daughter named Peggy, who
married John Williamson II. They were the parents of three children
including Peter Williamson (I). They lived in Virginia and later moved
to Johnstown, Ohio. John Williamson's name appears on an 1800 county
assessment for Berkley County (now West Virginia). This is probably
John II, but there are several John's and Peter's in the Williamson
family and research gets confusing. At any rate, John assessed 160
acres to a Peter Williamson in 1789. Additional information on other
families mentioned here, may be obtained by selecting the appropriate
surname page.
