National Capital Area Square Dance Leaders Association

On March 17, 2007 the membership voted to change the by-laws and with it the meeting frequency requirement to a minimum of one annual meeting to be held in May or June.
This year's annual meeting was held on June 7th at Vicino's Restaurant, after a wonderful Italian Meal. The Annual NCASDLA Membership meeting was opened by Association President Walt Peterman. The membership voted to have all existing officers remain in office for another year.   Membership for Skip Cleland and Joe Dungan was voted on and approved.  Charlie Lee announced that this year's recipient of the prestigious VASCA Cardinal Award, was Walt and Jean Peterman.   Butch Adams made a brief presentation on Callerlab call definitions.  He also demonstrated some of the latest technology in square dance  amplifiers.   The boxes of square dance records were turned over to the president by Jim Wass.  Several of the records were purchased by callers in attendance at the dance.  The meeting was adjourned and we all drove to the the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center  for 3 hours of dancing.   Most of the time, we had three (3) squares dancing, thanks to the nice caller turnout.   Tim Eum flew in from Texas in time to cue a nice round dance tip, to the delight of the round dancers.   The newest NCASDLA caller, Joe Dungan  did a fine job with the closing tip as the clock reached the final hour.  We are already working on next year's caller showcase. There were suggestions that we move it away from the summer, because of the heat and summer vacations. (although this year's hall was well air-conditioned)

We truly would like to see greater participation by our dancers.  It is one time when you can easily get 3 signatures on your booster card, and many times, one of those rare ones.   We hope to see you all next year at a time and place to be determined.
