A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT WALT and JEAN'S SQUARE DANCING INTERESTS

Although Walt attended local square dances as a teen, as he took lessons in the early 60's in the Phillipines, he soon learned that modern square dancing bears little resemblance to the dances of old, i.e. Birdie in the Cage, Little Brown Jug, Over the Wave, Log Cabin in the Lane and many others. He later became a SQUARE DANCE CALLER. Walt and his taw of 55 plus years enjoy square dancing and contra and attend local and state dances and festivals as well as some National Conventions whenever possible.
THE GRAND SQUARES OF PRINCE WILLIAM were organized by Walt and Jean in 1987 as a Mainstream Club. They now dance Mainstream with Plus, every Saturday at 7:30 P.M. Walt breaks up the square dancing with a variety of lines and contra as well as mixers, and there are usually easy rounds with a guest cuer. We occasionally cancel because of conflicts or unavailability of our hall. Please call Walt first: (703) 494-2556.
The Woodbridge Seniors dance Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 PM (except the months of June, July and August). They dance basic and mainstream. Both the Grand Squares and the Woodbridge Seniors meet in the Senior Center on Longview Drive just off of US Route #1 in Woodbridge, VA.
The Hitch N Go are no longer a square dance camping club, but we love to camp and normally camp on the First Weekend or long holiday weekends monthly April through October. However, as a caller, Walt is flexible and would consider a resumption in dancing if there were enough to dance. See our camping page for information on this group.
