Churchill Weakley served in the Confederate
Army during the Civil War. He was assigned to Capt. Brooke's Battery, aka
Company "A". 1st Battalion, Virginia Light Artillery, later Capt.
Addison W. Utterback's Company, Virginia Light Artillery, or Company
"D" of Poague's Battalion. He enlisted April 10, 1862 at Culpeper,
Virginia, Private, deserted and sent to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Surprised.
Mr. Churchill Weakley was greatly surprised Sunday
when his children and grandchildren gathered at his home to remind him that it
was his 70th birthday. A fine dinner was served by the ladies present. The
children departed at a late hour wishing their father many more happy
birthdays.

THE PASSING OF MR. CHURCHILL WEAKLEY
A Resident of Lexington Over Forty Years
Venerable Churchill Weakley closed his eyes
in sleep from all earhly duties at 11 o'clock Wednesday night, March 11, at the
St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington. He had been in poor health for two years
and confined to his room the past six months, being a sufferer with dropsy.
He was born in Madison County, VA., January
21, 1835. Here he grew to manhood July 26, 1857, he married Miss Lucy Ellen
Gaines, who preceded him in death November 24, 1881.
In April 1863, he enlisted in the army where
he faithfully served for two years and four months. In 1868, he and his family
moved to Illinois, first settling on a farm near Cayuga, where they lived for
four years. Then they came to Lexington. which has been the home since.
Mr. Weakley united with the United Brethren
Church in Virginia and never transferred his membership here. As old age crept
upon him he did not attend services regularly, but studied his bible daily and
was able to recite a great portion of it.
He is survived by the following children:
Mrs. W. E. Barnard of Kenoma, MO.; Mrs Jame Withers and Mrs. Frank Lefler of
Wakonda, S. Dak., Mrs. Joseph Carter of St. Edwards, Neb., Thomas of Elwood
City, PA., John W. and Edward of this. He is also survived by thirty-five
grandchildren and six great grandchildren, two brothers, Calhoun Weakley of
this city, Carnott weakley of Madison County, Virginia, and one sister, Mrs. Sally
Batton of Madison County, Virginia.
The funeral was held from the residence of
his son, John W., at 2:30 p.m. Friday, the Reverend J.G. Breden, pastor of the
U. B. church, officiating. The burials was in Lexington Cemetery. An Obit also
appeared in the Lexington, ILL. Daily Bulletin, Thursday March 12, 1914. It
stated in addition to some info from above, that he had been a farmer. The body
was taken from the hospital to Lexington by train and then to he home of his
son John Weakley.

Willis Weakley
Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock Willis Weakley
was relieved of great suffering that had plagued him in the form of consumption
for the past two years. The deceased was born in Madison County, Virginia, the
3rd day of August 1839 and moved to Lexington the 21st of March 1859, when he
married Arabella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilkerson and had five children
of that union. One of the children is dead, James A. lives in Gridley; Ira
lives in Nebraska and two daughters Carrie and Myrtle are at home with the
sorrowing mother.
Mr. Weakley was an old soldier having
enlisted in the 118th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and served until his
discharge for inability but subsequently re-entered the service with the 145th
Regiment and served faithfully until the end of the war. He was a man of good
character and had many friends. Lexington Post Number 240, Grand Army of the
Republic of which he was a member, participated in the funeral services which
were large attended. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the
Christian Church, Reverend W. H. Cannon, the pastor, spoke at the funeral and
the remains were buried in the Lexington Cemetery.

Calhoun Weakley lies here Monday
Was one of the oldest residents of Lexington.
Funeral services Wednesday.
Calhoun Weakley, one of the oldest residents
of Lexington died at his home here at 4:30 Monday, Feb. 5, 1934 after a short
illness due to infirmities and old age. He was born at Culpeper, Va. on April
11, 1845, the son of Fielding and Nancy Berry Weakley. He was first married to
Mary Susan Jones in 1868 and came to Lexington in that year where he has since
resided. To this union were born the following children who survive: Mrs.
Eunice Popejoy, Miami, Florida, and Mrs. Blanche Hilger. Following the death of
his first wife on Sept. 16, 1882, he married Miss Catherine Waybright of
Lexington on June 4, 1890. She preceded him in death last Wednesday and the
burial occurred Sunday. Mr. Weakley was a member of the Christian Church where
the funeral was held Wednesday. The Reverend Osceola McNemar of Leroy had
charge of the service.

James Myers (I am uncertain as to his connection; but, I believe this is Amos),
Charles Weekly, Ada (Priest) Weekley, Rosa (Weekly) Johns, Elmer Johns, Jay
Weekley, Anna (Weekley) Priest, Homer Priest, John W. Weekly and Alda (Shoults)

Petition.....Plaintiff represents that he was
on the 13th day of July, 1905, duly appointed and qualified Executor of the
estate of John W. Weekly, his father, of Licking County, Ohio and is still
acting as such executor.- That the amount of debts due from the deceased is
about Nine hundred dollars ($900.) as near as they can be ascertained. (a
schedule of which debts is hereto attached marked Exhibit A)-Charges of
administration of said estate will amount to about One hundred and twenty five
dollars, ($125.00) and that the total value of the personal estate and effects
of said deceased is but Two hundred fifty two dollars, being wholly
insufficient to pay the debts and costs of the aforesaid. The plaintiff further
represents that said John W. Weekly, Sr., died seized in fee simple of the
following described real estate,-situate in the County of Licking, State of

Certificate in the custody of Jim Starmer. Jim Starmer is a great grandson of
Mary Olive, and is a resident of Greensboro, North Carolina).
Mary died of pnuemonia January 29, 1916 at
the Mount Vernon Hospital, Mount Vernon, Knox County Ohio. (Death Certificate,
Starmer). She was buried at the Moundview Cemetery, Mount Vernon, ( Section D,
