In November/December, many competitors received Matt Steele's first NAR Contest News. This newsletter featured a lot of important information that hasn't been able to make it into SpRocketry of late.
Matt recently sent me some materials, including a preview of material to be published in the March issue of SpRocketry. Some highlights:
* This issue will contain the rule revisions necessary to really legalize reloadables in competition.
* All Northeast meets flown to date have been received at the National level and are included in the latest points listing.
* There will be a new edition of the Pink Book coming out, in a 8 1/2" x 11" looseleaf format.
* The future of 1/4A events is in doubt due to the availability of 1/4A engines. Estes had planned to bring out a "competitor's bulk pack", but apparently DOT-certification problems have put that on hold. Apogee's supply of 1/4A engines is rapidly dwindling. If you plan 1/4A events, I'd suggest that you make sure that you have engines in hand. And if you want to see 1/4A engines from Estes, let them know about it!
I've included much of this stuff in this mailing. Matt has also sent me some flight logs (a possible replacement for flight cards) for evaluation. I haven't included them in your mailing due to copying/postage costs, but if you are interested in seeing them, let me know and I'll send you a set. Finally, I've included some of the NAR Standards & Testing Internet posts from the past few months.
(Sorry, these materials are not available for browsing. NAR Standards & Testing News Releases can be found at this link. Releases 1 - 8 were included with this mailing. - JV, 4/96)
The sanctions have been slowly rolling in, and we have four meets scheduled for the spring so far. Things seem a bit slower, with a more distant NARAM this year and some sections slowing down. Hopefully that will pick up when we can see bare ground again. Keep up the good work, CDs!
