When I first came onboard, I felt that I had to make a distinct effort to learn the job, develop new procedures, and to familiarize Northeast CDs with what I expected of them. Once that was accomplished, I slacked off -- although there are always new clubs and CDs which need that sort of special attention.
Second, both my section (ASTRE) and I have been much less active in competition over the last few years. This is changing now. ASTRE held its first meet in two years last fall and is flying a full slate of meets this spring. Although it may disqualify me from consideration for the NAR Board (as the old joke goes), I will actually be doing some flying this year!
In this job, as well as with my own club, it seems like there is an upswing in interest in rocketry and contest flying. Our region has a dozen meets scheduled for this spring. I am cautiously optimistic about the direction in which things are going. The NAR once again has full control of its magazine, Sport Rocketry, and the results are encouraging thus far. The publication of The Model Rocketeer is providing a venue for timely association information which had been lacking. The members of the NAR Contest and Records Committee are working hard to provide current information to the flyer in the field. More on this elsewhere...
As usual, keep up the good work, CDs!

Some of the resources available there include:
As you can see, a lot of useful information. If you have access to the WWW, point your browser there and take a look around. If you can't access these materials and see something of interest, contact me and I'll try to mail it to you.
I hope to make more use of this resource in the future. Another useful tool is electronic mail. If you have an e-mail account (and I haven't been in touch with you already), drop me a message at jeffvincent at verizon dot net. I would like to move some of my contest correspondence over to e-mail as it seems to be more convenient for some matters. In the future, we might even be able to file sanctions and/or meet results in this manner.
Finally, be sure to check out the new NAR web site at http://www.nar.org
