was assigned to the 12th CAG
and arrived just after the Tet offensive in 1968 and left in 1969. Being assigned to Viet Nam was a homecoming of sort for me. I was a military dependent in Saigon in the early 60's and went to high school (11th grade) in Saigon and graduated from an American missionsry school in Dalat in 1963. I was a teletype operator in the Signals unit with a Major Frick who was our CO. Like everyone else, I was happy to leave VN but did go back once in late 73 or early 74 on my way to Cambodia for an assignment. (actually, it was just an overnight in Saigon) Now I'd love to return and tour the city. My apologies to those who's names I cannot recall. |
