Welcome! My name is Wayne Fitzgerald. This site is dedicated to HHC 12th Combat Aviation Group  where I served as a teletype operator from April 1966 to April 1967. If you served with this unit, I would love to hear from you.

The 12th Aviation Group was formed in Vietnam on August 28, 1965 from the U.S. Army Aviation Group. The unit was first housed in a civilian type house in Saigon and relocated to Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon early in 1966.
The unit was attacked with mortor fire on April 9 1966 and sustained several wounded and 1 KIA.
In June 1966 it moved to Long Binh and became the 12th Combat Aviation Group. Under the command of the 1st Aviation Brigade, the 12th CAG commanded three Battalions and provided helicopter and fixed wing aviation support to American, Vietnamese and Free World Military Assistance Forces (FWMAF) in the III Corps Tactical Zone.
