About the Artist...As
a full time professional artist for over 30 years, Laurie Shanholtzer has established a sound reputation as a portrait
artist and pastelist.t. Over this time she has literally painted hundreds of commissions. These paintings grace homes, offices and public institutions both nationally and abroad.
A third generation artist, Laurie's art conscious family includes her
grandfather, the nationally recognized muralist, Vincent Maragliotti, (example: Philadelphia capital dome), Her Aunt Iris
Guarducci, a Pulitzer prize winner in portraits and her mother, Gina Tetzlaff, a prominent New York dress designer and
portraitist.
Originally from Bronxville, New York, Laurie is now a resident of Huntington,
West Virginia. She established the first portrait and pastel classes at the Huntington Museum of Art where she taught more
than nine years. She is former President of the Tri State Arts Association. Her extensive lectures and workshops include the
Armand Hamer Collection, area school workshops for students and teachers, and various civic groups. She has been juror for
numerous exhibitions including the Kentucky state Arts Festival, The Jackson Ohio arts Exhibition among others.
Currently, she is enjoying painting still lifes, landscapes and
figure paintings. Reproductions of these works are now available in museum quality giclee prints.
