Commissioning A Portrait
Procedure
|
The process starts with getting acquainted and learning
your ideas about the portrait. I learn about the subject's interests and personality. This is the time we talk about the setting,
the props, and if a pet should be included. I encourage your participation in this creative process.
Next, at the location of your choice, I take several rolls of film to
use as reference material. To help capture the personality, I prefer to meet with the subject/subjects. Of course if this
is impossible as with a posthumous portrait or a "surprise" portrait, you can provide me with as many photos as possible to
use. These photographs should be of professional quality to help with lighting and detail clarity. They should have been taken
in a limited time frame.
The primary sketch is started. This is a monotome drawn on the final
paper. (100% rag- archival). I give enough detail to help you determine how the final painting will appear. This sketch is
presented for your review before I continue with the painting.
A deposite of 25% is due at this time, with the remainder at delivery
of the painting.
When traveling to distant locations, I do require conpensation for travel
and lodging expenses when applicable.
