I am currently using 93.00% of my 9 MB limit...
Seriously, I always thought flickr was annoying as hell. But now that I have almost met my 9MB limit and flickr is willing to let me upload 100 MB of pics for free... Well, it doesn't seem so bad afterall.

It started with Ravelry - flickr is the only way to get pics onto Ravelry. As I'm typing this, I have one pic on flickr/Ravelry. But since uploading to Verizon is excruciatingly painful and also because the fact that I never post to my blog for that reason, I may be switching over to flickr. I'm at least going to focus on Ravelry for pictures... I mean, is there actually anywhere out there reading this who is NOT on Ravelry? Anyway, I'll see if I can figure out how to link to flickr.

Always Busy
Ilona left a comment saying she wants to see some of the dyed yarn knit up. Well, D started on a Yarn Harlot One Row Scarf out of color he calls, "Arizona Sunset."

I thought the "tye-dye" style yarn would look fabulous in Linen Stitch. However, D didn't much like the pattern and if I want to see it completed I will have to do it myself.

Lastly, D made his very own combs:

What you see in the picture (besides his own homemade combs) is an uncombed "Mystery Batt" from Fantasy Fibers. It's got wool and bits of mohair, and other mystery stuff. He hasn't spun this blue stuff yet, but he will probably mix it with some white to tone it down a bit.
D did spin a bunch grey roving and started making his own scarf!

I was almost done with D's sweater when it got hot.

Meanwhile, Dennis mostly worked on this during the summer:

When the weather turns cooler, I can't wait to get back to knitting the warm wooly items. But for now, it's another 80 degree day.

DYE!
At last, the pictures of the DYING!

I had never been much of an artist type. I've been taught that when you paint, you can just start playing with color and the rules don't matter, it just makes sense. Watercolor, in particular, I've heard is a great way to explore color. Uh-huh. Not so much.

Now dying yarn - that was my first experience being enthralled by color. We started setting up on December 24 at noon. By midnight, we had dyed 12 skeins of yarn!

Purples, greens, and other jeweltones are my favorites so I dyed these laceweights:

D did this gorgeous blend of colors. (Worsted weight, I think.)

We also did some space-dying.

Here are the two space-dyed (everything sounds cooler when you put "space" in front of it) and another hand-paint in sock weight:

Something about mixing the colors and seeing the surprises really made me come alive. I can't wait to dye some more!

Itching to Blog
Ouch, that sounds like a disease! But let me tell what is painful - I finally figured out how to allocate more space to this blog, then I started looking through pics to find just the right images of the DYING. Well, everytime I would use the photo editor, my computer shut off. Not crash or dive or guru error, just turn off. Like someone unplugged the power. This has frustrated me to no end.

D checked the memory and the computer and the hard drive - must be the power supply. Anyway, he even re-installed windows but frankly after all the drama, I haven't had the nerve to test my power supply theory for, oh, about six months.

Well, I just wanted to post something before I tried tonight because frankly, if I go on battery power and the damn thing still shuts off when I use the photo editor, this IBM's going to get hurled like so many cookies after a spin on the merry-go-round!
