Weekend of Memorial
Traditionally, Memorial Day weekend
has marked the official start of summer with barbecues and camping. However, this year the week’s weather forecast has read
like a thesaurus entry for rain: showers, light rain; precipitation, thundershowers, drizzle. After five days of rain, this
morning we had the first hint of any sun:
A bird. Well actually it’s a cat;
but Sox staring intently out the window is the best way I could show that there really were birds about.
This lovely weather and long weekend
have given me plenty of time to knit, think about knitting and blog about knitting.
I bet you’re wondering how the
Socks That Rock are coming? Well, they still look like this:

Because I have been working on
this:

It’s a list
of the projects I’m knitting along with a progress chart for each one. It allows me to see how much I have on my plate and
how well I’m progressing. For instance, I began the chart in about March and now I can mark off a few things like LeAnne’s
baby blanket and my purse made from Lion Cotton. (Updated chart below.) Well, the purse has been knit, but not assembled.
That’s because I can’t find it. Any ideas where I may have put it?
The
only issue with this list, is it seems to be gaining projects faster than they are marked off. Behold, page two:

The
good news is that I'm comfortable knitting wooly things still because of the weather. So the cool weather is good for
two reasons: I still have plenty of wooly stuff to knit and I ran out of summer clothes to wear and can wear sweaters
again. Also, I'm thankful to be wearing sweaters because they are clean (and everything else is not yet) and also because
this is my "furnace."

Yep,
baseboard heating. Summer, I welcome you; but whenever you are ready!
