So much to share! Most recent, I finally sewed the baby sweater together. I'm sure you want to see a picture. I finished
it at L's house, put the sweater on the baby and didn't have my camera... So the pic is coming soon!
Also, D and I went to the
Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival in September. I came away with some gorgeous mohair and some
Sock Candy. But mostly, I restrained my yarn buying urges. Why? Why restrain my impulse to buy tons of gorgeous yarn that I can only
get once a year or maybe never again? Why risk walking away from a one of a kind treasure?
Because D and I spent our money on this:
It's a Shacht spinning wheel! Purchased from the nice folks at the
Pacific Wool and Fiber booth. It's double-drive and dual treadle, I don't know much more about it other than it has
bearings and is probably
one of the coolest spinning wheels out there. You see, it's for D. He is the one who will be doing the spinning. That's because
he
can, and he does it well; and I
can not. In case anyone wondered, there
is a limit to my textile
talents and the abrupt edge is at the spinning wheel.
D has already spun this glorious corriedale cross.
I can't wait to make it into something fun for him. Perhaps we will dye the yarn. That's our next big adventure
- to dye yarn. We bought some dye, some yarn, some bottles and containers for dye and of course, dye. D needs to
install the stainless steel sink in the garage so we don't make a mess in our mostly white kitchen. Then we are ready
to go! Wish us luck on the dying project.
Lastly, I added a way for comments to be left on the site.
Ilona had pointed out to me (in person) that there was no way for her to leave a comment on this blog. I finally found it cleverly
disguised as "Guestbook" on the site builder. Yay! So please, leave a comment!
