Photos from Bud Williams
Bud Williams was at Iraklion Air Station to see much of its evolution, with four tours encompassing 20 years: 1955-1957, 1960-1963, 1968-1970, and 1971-1975.

Construction, 1972. Note what appears to be a post-and-beam construction rendered in concrete. This explains the architectural features seen in most, if not all, concrete structures on base.
11 Oct 06 - Chris and Robert Hill have identified this as construction of the new bowling alley. The NCO club, to the south and west of it, is in the background.
