Episode #9

Prologue

Fade in to Casper High. The trees are orange. The bell rings. Zoom in.

Fade to the doors of Casper High. On it is a white banner which reads “SPIRIT WEEK CENTENNIAL” in blue and “100 YEARS OF CASPER SPIRIT” in quotations in red. Lancer jumps up on screen.

LANCER: Casper!

Lancer falls. He jumps again, this time with his back in the air and his arms grabbing his feet.

LANCER: High!

Lancer falls once more. He bounces onscreen with his fists on his shoulders, bending to put his stomach forward.

LANCER: Spirit!

Lancer falls again. Smoke and yellow stars appear as Lancer lets out a grunt of pain. Pan down to the ground. Lancer is face-down on the ground with a blue trampoline behind him in front of the steps. Jasmine looks down at him with her arms on her hips.

Cut to Lancer. He looks up.

LANCER: Ah! Spirit Week! (closes his eyes) I loooove it so.

Cut to a window of the school with orange bushes underneath. Lancer stands up, his hands clasped together.

LANCER: The pomp,--

Zoom out to reveal the trampoline and Jasmine from the back. Lancer raises his arms out.

LANCER: --the circumstance,--

Lancer takes a picture from his pocket and holds it out to Jasmine.

LANCER: --and mostly--

Cut to the picture. “CASPER HIGH” is written with many sparklers as someone with red pants jumps over it.

LANCER: The Spirit--

Zoom out to show the whole photo. A young Lancer with a full head of hair is jumping over the sparklers in a blue background with a red jacket and a white shirt with a red “C”.

LANCER: --Sparklers!

Cut to Lancer. His arm is out toward the camera.

LANCER: Jasmine, did you know I was a (closes his eyes) cheerleader (looks up at the school) when I went to school here?

Cut to Jasmine looking at the photograph in Lancer’s hand.

JASMINE: Really?

Jasmine takes Lancer’s hand and pushes it down offscreen.

JASMINE: Weird. (puts a finger to her shirt) No clue.

Don’t think being a male cheerleader is wrong at any time other than the Spirit Week Powder Puff game, the football match before homecoming where girls play and boys cheerlead. It’s not a common occurrence, but it’s not wrong.

Cut to Lancer and Jasmine. Jasmine pulls at the neck of her shirt.

JASMINE: Look, (looks up and puts out a palm) can I talk to you for a minute, Mr. Lancer?

Jasmine puts down her hand.

Cut to a purple door. Beneath it reads “PENELOPE”. A green, impish ghost with red eyes looks in the window. Zoom out. The door fully reads “Penelope Spectra” and Danny is walking down the hallway with his hand on his purple backpack strap.

JASMINE: (offscreen) About my brother, Danny?

Cut to Danny. He walks a few steps until his ghost sense goes off.

Cut to Danny with the ghost in the window of the door. Danny bends down to look through the window. The ghost flies up out of view. Danny looks off to the right, then the left. He opens the door of the top locker that’s last in the row.

JASMINE: (offscreen) He’s been acting--

Danny bends down and grabs the sides of the locker.

JASMINE: --*really* strange lately,--

Danny jumps in the locker and closes the door. A blast of white light seeps through the cracks. Danny Phantom opens the door of the locker and looks to the door with his ghostly tail whipping, turning intangible.

JASMINE: --like he’s not himself anymore.

Danny swoops through the door.

Cut to inside an office. There is a desk with a battered, old monitor. There are pictures hanging behind the desk. The impish green ghost is on the floor with no legs, looking to the left at a bookshelf. Danny steps onscreen in the foreground and resumes full color. The ghost turns to look at him.

Cut to the ghost. It snarls, raises a hand up as is bends down its head, and flies up offscreen.

Cut to Danny. He takes flight as well.

Cut to a shot of a cabinet desk under a window. Danny and the ghost land onscreen, facing each other. The ghost has tiny legs now. Danny attempts to punch the ghost, but the ghost raises a hand to block. Danny alternates hands, but the ghost blocks with the other hand.

Cut to Danny with an outstretched arm. He ducks as the ghost’s arm swings over his. Danny raises a hand behind his neck.

Cut to the ghost with his arms in a ready to flee position. He looks down in shock as Danny’s hand slices through his goopy body. His goopy body reforms back together and he starts growling.

Cut to Danny with his hand out. He gets ready to take flight. Zoom in.

Cut to Jasmine and Lancer walking down the hallway with a fat red-haired girl and an Asian kid with a red sweater by his locker. Jasmine shrugs.

JASMINE: I’d talk to him, but I’m his older sister,--

Cut to Jasmine and Lancer.

JASMINE: --he’s just gonna think I’m (puts down her hands) being bossy.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: And if he doesn’t get some help, (turns to the left) if he doesn’t talk to somebody…

Cut to Danny. His eyes widen as he grunts, putting his hands on his head and ducking to the right as a red student’s chair is thrown and crushed on him.

JASMINE: (offscreen) All that--

Danny looks up and charges an energy blast.

JASMINE: --frustration I think he’s repressing--

Danny turns to the left.

JASMINE: --could come out--

Danny sends off the laser, pan left.

JASMINE: --the wrong way.

Cut to the desk with the computer on it. There’s a trash can nearby. The ghost swoops from the top-right behind the trash can that Danny zaps, then over the desk and ducking behind it again as Danny shoots a desk leg, then up in front of a book case where Danny vaporizes a spot on the shelf.

Cut to Danny in the room. His hands are blazing green. The shelf behind him is in disrepair, an open file cabinet is smoldering green smoke, and another pillar of green smoke billows on the right. Danny takes flight and lands closer to the camera, crouching down with his blazing hands, then he stands up.

Cut to the ghost crouching on the top of a shelf with its hands on the ledge. Danny is looking at him from the foreground. Smoke billows and some energy blazes. The ghost opens its mouth full of sharp teeth to roar again, then oozes to the other end of the ceiling and phases through it. Pan right, Danny turns his head.

Cut to a stunned Danny in the ruined office with blazing hands. He arches his eyebrows in petulance as a flash of light appears and rings pass over him turning him into Danny Fenton with normal hands. The door on the right opens. Danny turns his head to the right in surprise. Pan right to show Lancer holding the door open with Jasmine, both incredulous.

Cut to Danny with a shaken look with a pillar of smoke billowing from a desk. Rapid zoom out to show Danny in the room with papers on the floor, the open file cabinet and the smashed desk.

Cut to Jasmine and Lancer. Jasmine looks to Lancer, lancer lowers his eyelids.

Cut to Danny with the smoke billowing in the background.

DANNY: (looking at his hands) Good one, Fenton.

Danny closes his eyes and raises his chin as the smoke stops.

DANNY: You let him get away (opens his eyes) you idiot!

More of an idiot, you are talking to yourself. And it doesn’t help with the billowing smoke, it makes you seem like you set a fire in the office. Meep!

He puts down his arms and looks down as Lancer’s large hand comes from the right and grabs him by the shirt and drags him offscreen. Danny lets out a sound of being pulled away suddenly.

The screen fades to black.

PART ONE

Title Screen is shown. Depicted is a tall woman with a pink-red suit and sunglasses smiling a menacing smile, holding Danny Phantom on puppet strings in one hand and Jasmine in the other on puppet strings. The caption in the bottom-right reads “PRESENTED IN PHANTOMATION”®.

Fade in to outside Casper High. A large, African-American boy with a beard/mustache, and a green shirt with a yellow “T” on it. He raises a hands as a gleeful red-haired freshman is carrying a stack of five books gleefully. When the boy approaches, the older kid swats down his hand and sends the books to the sidewalk, papers flying. Zoom out and pan up to the doorway where there’s a banner above the door, reading “SPIRIT WEEK” with “spirit” goldenrod and “week” in orange. Students are walking inside.

JASMINE: (offscreen) Is it always so *cold* in here?

Cut to a thermostat. It reads “COLD” on one side and “COLDER” on the other. A red arrow points on the cold side, and a hand comes onto the dial turning it left to the colder side.

WOMAN: (offscreen) Of course!

Cut to a woman with a devil’s-hair red hairdo and green eyes with sunglasses, purple earrings, and a coral suit. Her hand is on the thermostat.

WOMAN: I find that (a wisp of blue smoke comes from her mouth) cold temperatures--

The woman takes her hand off the dial and puts it on her hip.

WOMAN: --keep the mind (points with two fingers and winks) icy sharp!

Cut to her office. She is in front of a bookcase. The walls are cracked and exposed, pictures behind the desk are crooked, the floor has a large brown stain on it, and there’s a cardboard box by her desk. Jasmine is sitting in a chair. Danny is standing slumped over and miserable. Lancer looks in doubt at the woman.

WOMAN: (leaning back to grab a picture on the wall) And don’t you worry about this (straightens the picture) mess of an office, either.

The woman bends down to pick up her chair.

WOMAN: Stuff happens.

She sits down and clasps her hands. Lancer turns to her.

WOMAN: No biggee.

Cut to the woman.

WOMAN: Right, (cocks her head) Jasmine?

Cut to Jasmine. A blue wisp of smoke comes from her mouth.

JASMINE: It’s Jazz. (crosses her arms) My friends call me (another wisp of blue comes out) Jazz.

Jasmine looks up. Pan to the right to Danny, eyes closed with his arms crossed.

DANNY: Yeah, well your brother calls you (opens his eyes and a blue wisp comes out) fink!

This isn’t exactly the first-time viewing, so I’m free to ask about retconning Spectra’s ghost sense just like Tucker’s in WYW and Paulina’s in DD. I’ll also point out that half-ghosts like Danny usually don’t make it on natural ghost radar, only on ghost hunter radar.

But for other evidence, in TFBC the characters breathe out mist that doesn’t resemble the ghost sense at all. So why does Jasmine have a “ghost sense” here?

Cut to Jasmine in the chair with her hands on her legs.

JASMINE: Danny, (raises a hand) I’m just trying to help? (puts down a hand) Come on, (shrugs) we used to talk all the time!

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Yeah, (looks up to think) when I was 8 (points a finger) and you weren’t a fink!

Doing the math, Jasmine would be 10. Generalizing from self, Dennis’s own sister never really talked to her since then due to an overload of extra-curricular activities, schoolwork, part-time jobs, or her own circle of friends. Not that Dennis minds.

Zoom out to reveal Lancer with his arms crossed looking down at Danny. Danny looks up at him.

LANCER: That’s more than enough out of you, Fenton.

Cut to Lancer with the woman at her desk behind him.

LANCER: Get to class while (looks back) Ms. Spectra and I decide (looks down again) what your punishment is.

Cut to Lancer with his hands on his hips. Danny is standing in front of him, and Jasmine is in the chair looking at her brother. Danny leans forward with a pursed lip and two slumped fists at Jasmine, who is thrown back in shock. Pan left to the door. Lancer turns his head as Danny storms out.

Cut to Jasmine. Lancer slides up to her from the right looking to the right.

LANCER: Unlike her brother, (puts an arm around Jasmine and smiles) Jazz is one of Casper’s (rolls up his hand) best (looks down at Jasmine) and brightest.

Cut to Lancer.

LANCER: She’ll be giving the keynote (closes his eyes) pep speech at our centennial (opens his eyes) Spirit-A-Thon--

Cut to Jasmine. She leans forward in pride.

LANCER: --on Wednesday.

Cut to Spectra.

SPECTRA: (pumping a fist) Right on!

Spectra spins her chair to motion to her pictures.

SPECTRA: That’s why I’m here.

Cut to a picture of Spectra with her arms crossed and smiling looking over a miserable-looking girl with her head on her hand holding a card reading “CLASS PRESIDENT”.

SPECTRA: To pump up the pep,--

Pan right to Spectra motioning to another picture, in this one she pats the head of a brown-haired boy that’s also miserable and waving a mini-American Flag.

SPECTRA: --one student at a time!

Pan right to a third image of Spectra over three teenage cheerleaders with white-and-red pom-poms. All three are miserable, the curly-haired brown one, the blonde with the white bow, and the morbid raven-haired one.

It’s obvious those images give the wrong message. Spectra’s happy, but no one else is. Not the president, not the kid with the flag, not the cheerleaders. And they should be the peppiest.

Cut to Jasmine and Lancer. Lancer has his hands behind his back.

LANCER: Uh, Jazz (turns to her) Dr. Spectra is a highly-respected motivational speaker--

Cut to Spectra looking with pride. Her green eyes pop open.

LANCER: --and teen therapist.

Cut to Lancer.

LANCER: She’s agreed to help (looks to the ceiling with a smile) “pump up the volume” (looks to the left) on that old Casper High spirit this week.

Congrats, that’s the most “hip” thing you’ve ever said. Without the book, even! Have a cookie, Lancer.

Cut to Jasmine in the chair with her hands folded, Lancer looking down at her with pride and Spectra leaning forward on her desk. Lancer and Jasmine look toward the open door as a short, gray-haired green-eyed man with a red sweater vest, jacket and a bow tie steps in toward Spectra carrying an object in hands. He looks toward Lancer and Jasmine.

SPECTRA: And this is my assistant, (sits up straight) Bertrand.

Cut to Jasmine. She waves a hand lightly.

Cut to a bored-looking Bertrand. He snorts air through his nostril.

Cut to Jasmine. She stops waving, curls her fingers, and looks down to the left feeling a little blue. She rubs the back of her neck.

Say, was that a little foreshadow that may have escaped us? Clearly Jasmine’s not so happy when Bertrand comes into the equation.

Cut to Spectra with Bertrand holding the picture reading “CASPER SPIRIT”.

SPECTRA: Jazz, we’re gonna have a (winks and leans on her arm) *super* week.

Spectra stands up with her hands on the desk.

SPECTRA: Wait’ll you see what we have planned for the Spirit-A-Thon.

Spectra brings up her arms in an excited pose.

SPECTRA: Right after your speech, (leans down to Bertrand, waving her hand) show her, Bertrand,--

Bertrand holds up the sign as Spectra peps up again.

SPECTRA: --we’ll set off--

Cut to the picture. It reads “CASPER SPIRIT” in dominoes with the R and T going off. Spectra’s hand points under it.

SPECTRA: --this domino chain that says Casper (runs her hand) Spirit.

Cut to Spectra. She stand up and curls her fingers, waving her arms wildly.

SPECTRA: The dominoes represent how (thrusts out her arms) each person’s spirit affects (moves her hands to the right) the next person they (curls her fingers in glee) touch!

Spectra waves down her arm while making the surfer sign.

SPECTRA: Slammin’, (points in both directions) huh?

Cut to Jasmine, confused.

JASMINE: If by “slammin’” you mean (holds out a finger) weird, (points) then yes.

Cut to Lancer.

LANCER: And, the Spirit Sparklers go off afterwards, (closes his arms together) right?

Cut to Spectra sitting at her desk.

SPECTRA: Oh, (reaches behind her desk) you bet they will.

Zoom out to Lancer and Jasmine in the foreground. Spectra jumps on her desk holding up sparkling sparklers.

SPECTRA: After all, what’s Spirit Week without (crosses her arms over) Spirit--

Spectra stands up with one leg up, looking over at Lancer and Jasmine.

SPECTRA: --Sparklers?

Cut to Jasmine with her chin resting on her fist. Lancer is in the background.

JASMINE: You know, you’re a little over-peppy.

Jasmine lowers her eyelids and looks to the left.

JASMINE: But, (looks forward and points) my brother might benefit from talking to you.

Jasmine curls her fist under her chin.

JASMINE: But he’s so mad right now, (puts out a palm) he’d *never* listen to me.

Over-peppy? And you didn’t think that when you were working in much, much later episodes like Secret Weapons, Forever Phantom and Frightmare; now were you? No wonder Danny thinks you are an annoying older sister.

Pan up to Lancer, arms crossed.

LANCER: Yes, well.

Close-up on Lancer. Zoom in.

LANCER: He’ll listen to me.

Fade into a miserable, irked Danny with his cheeks in his hands.

Cut to Danny sitting in a green chair outside Penelope Spectra’s office, with a sign overhead reading “HAPPY CHAIR!” in purple letters. The door opens. Danny looks to the left curiously as Paulina walks out with her arms crossed with her hands curled around them, looking down as Spectra follows her. Paulina turns to her holding one of her arms.

PAULINA: So, you’re saying my popularity is, like, completely dependent--

Cut to Paulina.

PAULINA: --on my beauty?

Cut to Spectra.

SPECTRA: I’m not saying it’s fair, sweetie. (looks up and raises a palm) but if you feel you need something, like,--

She looks up and forward, curling her fingers a little.

SPECTRA: --a lot of make-up, (puts down her hand and leans forward) I say, go for it!

Cut to Paulina, looking insecure with Spectra leaning over her. Danny looks at them from the chair.

SPECTRA: You’re the only--

Spectra puts a hand on her waist and points at Paulina with another, winking.

SPECTRA: --“you” you’ve got!

Spectra turns to Danny, straightening her arm and curling her fingers into fists.

SPECTRA: Danny!

Close-up on Spectra.

SPECTRA: Come on in!

Cut to the insecure Paulina with her arm in her hand. Spectra looks at Danny in the chair with his hands on his legs. Spectra walks into her office. Danny follows her, slouching. The door slams shut. Paulina turns around and walks off.

Cut to inside Spectra’s office. It’s completely fixed. Spectra is at her desk with her hands folded, Danny is in the chair with his hands crossed in a “cold” position.

DANNY: I can’t believe my stupid sister--

Blue wisps come from his mouth as he speaks, zoom in on him slowly.

DANNY: --convinced Lancer to make this my punishment.

It is a punishment. Dennis hates social workers as much as you do, Danny, more because Dennis has Aspberger’s, a condition that didn’t make her any bit disabled but somehow made her strange enough to be a repeat problem child in elementary school. Now it’s protected by law to make sure I’m okay. Did she tell you how much she never enjoyed meetings and usually came into one hoping to leave as soon as possible and get back to what she was doing?

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: And can we (looks up to the left, a blue wisp comes out) please turn up the heat (eyes shift right) in here?

Danny looks to the blue wisp coming from his mouth.

DANNY: I can see my own breath!

That’s unnaturally cold. Most room thermostats only go as low as 50, but you need it around 30 degrees to create the misty effect. Otherwise it make be carbon monoxide or some other chemical in the smog you are breathing.

Cut to Spectra.

SPECTRA: Wow, (looks to the side) you do complain a lot. (perks up) Well, your sister did say you could be a bit of a baby.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: (blue wisp coming out) *What*?!

Cut to Spectra.

SPECTRA: Sweetie, (lays out her hands) it’s not you fault she thinks you’re a--

Close-up on Spectra.

SPECTRA: --*lo-ser*.

At this point, I feel like smacking her for putting words in Jasmine’s mouth. Truthfully; as much as I hate social workers, they usually at least try to help. Even if they help the wrong problem that doesn’t need to be fixed; or if they add more problems. This doesn’t even show remote possibility of “help”.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Wait!

Danny blinks and arches his eyebrows.

DANNY: Jazz called me a loser, too!?

No. Read Spectra’s text carefully. She puts words in Jasmine’s brain. Strangely, Dennis’s sister constantly calls her a loser. TO HER FACE. It’s why Dennis doesn’t care anymore.

Cut to Spectra.

SPECTRA: Hey, (puts her hands up in a push-back pose) those are her issues.

Cut to Danny in the chair with his hands on his knees. Spectra walks in with her hands on her chest.

SPECTRA: I’m not saying you’re a loser,--

Spectra turns to look down at Danny from behind him.

SPECTRA: --Danny. (perks up) I think you’re a--

Spectra slaps her hands on Danny’s shoulders, who jumps in surprise.

SPECTRA: --*great* kid.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Then why do I feel so (he hunches his shoulders) miserable?

If you were listening, you could hear a sapping sound when Spectra touches Danny.

Pan up to Spectra.

SPECTRA: You know what (puts a finger to her eye) I think? (rolls out her finger) You might be a mess--

Cut to Danny looking up at Spectra. She walks around and crouches down to Danny, curling her hand into a fist.

SPECTRA: --but “mess” is just the beginning of--

Spectra puts a hand on Danny’s shoulder, he looks up blankly.

SPECTRA: --“message”!

Spectra removes her hand, Danny leans forward, fed up with it.

SPECTRA: Now go out there and be a (points a finger at Danny) better you!

Spectra is all happy and peppy while Danny gets up and walks off.

Cut to the open doorway to Penelope Spectra’s office. Danny walks with his back hunched and arms hanging right into a wall, then lifts his head and hair back and walks out the door without bothering to correct his posture. The door closes. Bertrand is there with his arms crossed.

Such a short meeting; so little was accomplished. I’d be suspicious of this if I was there, usually they like to hold me there as long as they can and also try to pry as much as they can.

Cut to Spectra leaning on the desk looking in a compact with Bertrand in the foreground. She opens the compact and her head glows green.

SPECTRA: Marvelous.

Cut to Spectra’s reflection in the compact. She’s glowing green and a few wrinkles are visible, but the glow clears and she smiles, completely wrinkle-free.

Cut to Bertrand.

BERTRAND: Why are you wasting your time on a messed-up kid when we’ve got a big (puts his hands on his hips) to-do planned for Wednesday?

Cut to Spectra looking to Bertrand with the compact in hand. Bertrand is in the foreground.

SPECTRA: Yeah but, Wednesday’s still a couple of days away.

Cut to Spectra. She leans her head back and giggles evilly.

SPECTRA: (putting a hand on her hairdo) Teen misery is the nectar that keeps me looking (claps her compact shut and clenches a fist) fabulous.

Spectra puts her hands on he hips and look behind her shoulder.

SPECTRA: And that Fenton kid is like a walking--

Close-up on Spectra.

SPECTRA: --spa treatment.

First time I heard this line, I thought she would take the misery of others and use it for herself, leaving others with happy thoughts, rather than breed misery to use. Sort of like a reverse-dementor, feeding off misery and leaving the good parts, not breeding misery to feed off of.

Another thing, take note. She says Wednesday’s a couple days away. It’s probably still Monday.

Cut to Bertrand with Spectra from the back in the foreground. Bertrand begins to glow and turn all green. He melts into a puddle and then into the imp Danny was fighting earlier.

Cut to Bertrand.

BERTRAND: (putting a finger to his cheek) Hm. (puts out his finger) Then maybe I should--

Bertrand curls his finger back and narrows his eyes.

BERTRAND: --up the ante.

Cut to Bertrand. He bends down as a bug’s head with segmented eyes, antennae, a proboscis from his vertical mandibles and two legs sprout. Two wings slowly form from the goo, and then whip out. He bends forward, the goo on the floor becoming the abdomen, thrusting it out so he looks like a large, green hornet. The wings buzz as he hovers above the ground.

Cut to a school bell. It rings.

Cut to a hallway. There are kids chattering, with a jock, a girl with blonde pigtails, and an Asian in one corner, along with a red-haired kid with his hand in his locker. Tucker, Sam and Danny walk down the hall. Tucker and Danny are holding their backpack straps, Danny is miserable and irate.

TUCKER: Dude, you okay?

Cut to Sam and Danny. Sam looks at Danny as they walk.

DANNY: I’m fine. I can’t believe my sister told that shrink I’m (head pops up) a loser!

Cut to Sam, looking incredulous.

SAM: Are you *sure* Jazz said that? That doesn’t sound like Jazz to me.

Sam’s deductive skills are commendable, for she realizes Jasmine didn’t say that. Ms. Spectra has the gift of fabrication.

Cut to Danny, Tucker and Sam walking down the corridor. They all stop in their tracks when Jasmine’s foot steps into the foreground.

JASMINE: Hey you guys.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: What doesn’t sound like (shrugs) Jazz to you?

Cut to Danny, Tucker and Sam. Danny is holding his strap. Danny arches his eyebrows, Tucker and Sam look at him strange.

Close-up on Jasmine.

JASMINE: Still mad?

Cut to Danny with a finger on his chin.

DANNY: (sarcastic) Wow. (points out his finger) You *are* the smart one.

Danny leans forward with an irked look.

Cut to Danny, Tucker and Sam on one side. Jasmine walks in from the left, bending over with her hands out.

JASMINE: Danny, I know you’re angry, but I’m (straightens up) worried about you.

Cut to Jasmine.

JASMINE: Ever since the (leans her arms forward) accident--

I like how Jasmine mentions the accident. It means that the Fentons have a clue that something nasty went down in the lab, but they don’t know whether that caused any damage in Danny at all. Jasmine is very concerned about that.

Cut to Danny, Sam and Tucker with Jasmine on the other side.

DANNY: Jazz,--

Jasmine straightens up.

DANNY: --I know you think you’re helping,--

Danny puts out his arms, Jasmine puts her hands on her hips in a cursory glance.

DANNY: --and I’m sure when I’m older, I’ll appreciate it--

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: But right now,--

Danny closes his eyes and leans his head back.

DANNY: --I don’t.

Cut to Jasmine looking at a defiant Danny in the foreground. Jasmine’s hands are on her hips, Danny pops his eyes open.

JASMINE: You have to talk to somebody, Danny. (lifts a palm) You barely have any friends.

Cut to Tucker and Sam. They arch their eyebrows.

Cut to Danny, Tucker and Sam with Jasmine on the other side, she straightens her arm far out.

JASMINE: Besides these two.

Jasmine leans forward and puts her hands on her hips.

JASMINE: And you have absolutely no extra-curricular activities.

Cut to Tucker and Sam.

TUCKER: (whispering) Unless you count the ghosts.

Sam looks at him, Tucker looks up.

SAM: (whispering) Shut it.

Danny has Tucker and Sam as his two best friends, but ironically we’ve never seen Jasmine with a friend circle. The closest was the person she was calling in MI, because the girls in TUE were too fed up with her to be her friends. Also, ghosts aren’t extra-curriculars. Those are extra-boo-riculars.

Still, in relation to Dennis, she has barely any friends (her friends aren’t as close as Tucker and Sam), and she only has extra-boo-riculars too, transcribing Danny, completely unlike her sister, who has a large circle of friends and is on the Debate and Forensics teams. Meep!

Cut to Jasmine from the back. Danny is in front of her, Tucker and Sam just witness in the background, Sam looking irked.

DANNY: (cringing) Well,--

Danny leans toward Jasmine and throws out his arms.

DANNY: --maybe this is me now, huh?

Danny turns aside and crosses his arms.

DANNY: Not everybody’s pumped up full of spirit all the time, you know?

Cut to Danny. He gasps has his ghost sense goes off.

DANNY: (looking down) Ghost sense?

Danny wraps his arms around himself and shivers as his eyes dart around.

DANNY: I don’t see anything…

Zoom out. Jasmine puts a hand on Danny.

JASMINE: Danny? You’re shivering.

Cut to a far shot. Jasmine is on Danny, Danny is shivering. Tucker and Sam are standing by as witnesses. A kid with red hair and a large, red shirt watches. Danny runs out of Jasmine’s arms down the hallway. Everyone looks shocked and turns to him.

DANNY: Leave me *alone*!

Dennis herself has a shivering problem, sometimes she just gets cold for a few minutes without warning. It’s why she always wears two shirts, a flannel shirt, and a hooded sweater, just in case.

Of course, while she doesn’t shout often, she does break down the hallway running when she wants to be left alone. Or maybe a fast-walk. She may duck into a bathroom where some kids cannot follow.

Cut to Jasmine. She straightens her back with a hand out.

JASMINE: It’s worse than I thought.

Zoom out. A short, blonde-haired kid grabs Jasmine’s arm and points behind him. Jasmine turns around suddenly.

KID: A freakishly large hornet!

He lets go of Jasmine and screams at the top of his lungs. He turns to the lockers, opens a top one and jumps inside as Jasmine watches. It closes it with a lot of effort but his leg with a black high-top is locked outside. Jasmine opens her eyes as the kid’s leg shakes.

KID: OW! My leg!

Close-up on Jasmine, the background is already darkened. She gasps.

Cut to Jasmine from the back looking down the hallway. A boy with a long neck and long blonde hair with a tall boy with a red hat and shirt are by the end, holding books. A large, green hornet that Bertrand became buzzes into the shot from around the corner. The boys drop their books and cover their heads as the run in the direction the hornet came. Screaming is heard. The hornet turns its head to Jasmine.

Cut to Bertrand. As he hovers, his face slowly turns to the camera in fade-into motions.

Cut to a front-view of Jasmine. She shrieks loudly as the background zooms out, but the camera zooms in on her.

Cut to Jasmine. She screams and leans backwards as the bug that’s twice her size closes in on her.

Cut to Jasmine in the black arms of the bug with the little green hairs. The bug’s mandibles are dripping ectoplasm. Jasmine turns her cheek to the bug and braces herself. The bug’s long, black tongue licks up and down and around her face in a wave-like motion.

Close-up on Jasmine with the tongue around her face. She opens her eyes.

Cut to the ceiling. Danny Phantom swoops in from the right with his ghostly tail cascading and his fists out in front. He tumbles in the air, changing to a falling position with his fists above him and his legs in front. The background changes to a dark-turquoise action background. Danny turns intangible.

Cut to Jasmine in the arms and tongue of the bug.

DANNY: (offscreen) Back off,--

The bug and Jasmine turn to the left, slime drips from the bug’s mouth.

DANNY: --ghost bug!

Pan right. An intangible Danny kicks the bug with his leg from the right and phases through the wall. Jasmine turns to the wall.

Cut to a row of lockers. Jasmine walks in from the left.

JASMINE: Ghost bug? (puts down her arms) Wait a minute, (raises a hand to point) that was a ghost?

Close-up to Jasmine.

JASMINE: That was two ghosts?!

Cut to outside the school. The bug followed by a blue, intangible Danny phase out from the wall, Danny in the air and the bug landing on it’s back, bouncing off the ground offscreen and kicking up some dust.

Cut to a bespectacled boy reading under an orange tree. He looks up in fear as the bug flies up the tree stinger-first.

Cut to the building. Danny flies up.

DANNY: Somebody call (resumes color) for an--

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: --exterminator?

The way he says that reminds me of IC. Of course, this may be the first time Danny faces off with a bug, but his other bug face-off in DD was also orchestrated by Spectra and Bertrand. Meep!

Cut to Danny floating the foreground with a fist up, looking at the tree with the boy underneath and the bug on it, buzzing his wings. Danny is in focus, but he gets blurred as the bug tree gets into focus.

BERTRAND: My, you are clever, aren’t you?

Cut to the bug with his green-dripping mandibles.

BERTRAND: Swat this, (chitin eyelids narrow over his black eyes) big boy!

The bug flies offscreen.

Cut to a turquoise action background. The bug flies in from the right and points its stinger in front of it as its wings buzz.

Cut to Danny floating while the bug’s stinger is in the foreground. Zoom in on Danny as the stinger closes in.

Cut to a side-view of Danny. He braces himself by putting his hands on his head and yelping out as the bug passes in front of him, the stinger ripping a tear in the suit’s sleeve.

Cut to Danny floating over the ground as the bug flies away. Danny yells out in pain with his leg outstretched and the other bent, leaning to the right and clutching his wound, turning slowly to the ground until he falls and lands on his head and side.

If you notice, this means Danny was unable to keep his balance or stay airborne.

Close up on Danny.

DANNY: I should’ve gone intangible! (opens his eyes and looks up) *Idiot*! (looks down to himself) I’m not getting better at this, I’m getting worse!

Danny’s eyes pop open as he looks up.

Cut to a shot of the building from the bottom. The bug is descending quickly with his wings buzzing and his stinger out. Pan down as the bug goes offscreen.

Cut to Danny on the ground. He turns and raises his arms to produce a green energy dome. The bug lands and cries out as it is smashed on the dome. Then it flies up and out. Danny stops his shield.

Cut to the mesh fence. Danny gets up, appearing to be holding something behind and below him.

DANNY: All right, pal!

Danny shells the Fenton Thermos in front of him, the business end glows as it charges up.

DANNY: Time for you to--!

Close-up on Danny. His eyes pop open with realization.

Cut to the building and the fence and grounds around it. There’s nothing there. Pan up-left to the top of the building. The clock reads 1:00. Pan down-left to more of the school, but there’s no signs of life.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Gone.

Cut to a farther shot of Danny holding the thermos. He sighs.

DANNY: Great.

Danny switches off the thermos, it stops glowing and powers down. Danny puts the thermos down with his arms at his sides.

DANNY: Another bad guy gets away.

Danny flies up slowly with his ghostly tail, dejected.

Cut to outside a window. Jasmine walks up and looks through it with a palm on the glass, looking intently. Zoom out. Danny flies up, back to the school.

DANNY: Maybe Jazz was right. Maybe I *am* a loser.

Danny flies up offscreen with his ghostly tail.

Cut to inside the room. Jasmine is seen from the back looking out the window. Danny is holding the thermos with his back to her, his ghostly tail floating him out of the shot. Zoom in on Jasmine as she turns around.

JASMINE: A ghost? (perks up) Wait ‘til I tell Danny!

Fade to FentonWorks.

JASMINE: (offscreen) What do you mean you didn’t see a ghost?

Fade to the kitchen table. Jasmine is at one end seen from the back with her hands clasped, Danny is at the other with his palms perpendicular to the table. Zoom in.

DANNY: It didn’t look like a ghost to me. (shrugs) It just looked like a big bug.

Danny folds his hands on the table with some antagonism.

DANNY: So I ran.

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: Like a (closes his eyes and purses his lips for emphasis) lo- (looks down normally) -ser.

(Cut to Jasmine with her hands clasped on the table)

JASMNIE: I was right. You’re not going to listen to me, (lowers her eyelids) are you?

Cut to Danny. He’s resting his chin on his fist and another fist on the table.

DANNY: Nope!

Danny gives a smug smile.

Danny, that’s acting in spite. She’s clearly trying to make an effort here, but I can understand if you don’t want to be talked to. Meep!

Cut to Danny from the back with his chin on his hand and his smug smile. Jasmine is on the far end with her hands clasped looking businesslike.

JASMINE: Well you don’t leave me any choice.

Jasmine raises a hand to her mouth and lifts her head up to shout. Danny straightens up in sudden nervousness.

JASMINE: Mom! Dad! Can I talk to you about Danny?

Jasmine clasps her hands on the table again, this time she’s the smug one.

DANNY: What? Jazz!

Danny looks over his shoulder, putting his arm on the back of the chair.

DANNY: No!

Cut to the doorway. Maddie and Jack slide into the shot, Maddie with her hood up and shoulders bent in a ready stance, Jack holding a device in his hands like he’s aiming it.

MADDIE: Is there something wrong with Danny?

Yes.

JACK: Is there a ghost involved?

Yes. Very yes.

Cut to Danny leaning in his chair. Maddie leans in to meet his face.

MADDIE: Is there anything you want to talk about?

No.

Zoom out. Jack leans in next to Maddie looking over his shoulder and holding the device in one hand, a fist in the other. Maddie stands up straight, Danny looks at Jack’s device.

JACK: That involves ghosts?

Definitely not.

Cut to Danny. He looks up.

DANNY: I- I- (perks up with a smile) Actually, yes!

Cut to Jack and Maddie. Jack looks serious, Maddie looks concerned

DANNY: (offscreen) Jazz thinks she saw a ghost today.

Jack and Maddie raise their eyebrows in surprise.

Cut to Danny, smiling. Pan right to an anxious Jasmine as Danny looks to her over his shoulder, smugly.

DANNY: Tell ‘em, Jazz.

Cut to the table. Jasmine is at one end with her arms hanging, and Jack is on the other end with the device in both arms up and ready. Danny smiles at his parents, with Maddie beside him.

MADDIE: *What*?!

Maddie vaults over Danny, causing him to bend down and turn with some annoyance to his mother as she lands with her shoulders hanging. Jasmine looks up at her.

MADDIE: Why didn’t you tell us?!

Did Maddie just vault over Danny? This was the early days when some of DP’s original cartoony elements were still around, no matter how complex or serious the plot.

Cut to Jack holding the device over and behind his head at the ready.

JACK: It would’ve been a good chance to try out the--

Jack looks up to the device in his hands.

JACK: --portable Fenton--

Cut to the device, It sparkles once.

JACK: --Ghost Peeler.

Cut to the table. Jack is looking up at the device with pride as Danny and Jasmine look blankly in the chairs, and Maddie looks blankly with her hands hanging lax.

JACK: (turning to his family) It peels ghosts apart--

Jack thrusts the device in both hands high above the table, everyone looks up expressionlessly.

JACK: --atom by atom!

First time the expression is used, and it’s used “atom by atom”, not “molecule by molecule”. Meep!

Cut to the Peeler in Jack’s hands. It’s gray, with two green lights in the front and a headlight that’s green up top. It has two red buttons on the side and one in the back. Jack holds up a thumb and presses the button on the back. Two long cords of metal run out of the two green lights in front of the device to the left offscreen.

Cut to Jack’s foot. It gets shelled in stainless white armor with bolts on the ankle and knee.

Cut to Jack arms outstretched. They get armor-plated from right-to-left, panning right to his armor-covered hands in metal cylinder-things.

Cut to Jack’s head, smiling proudly. His arms get covered, his shoulder with a shoulder plate, his head in a helmet with a window and a nodule over the ear, the forehead of the helmet reading “Fenton Peeler”. The glass window slides down over the breach in the helmet. Zoom out to show Jack in full armor with his fists cuffed by cylinders, one holding the original device and one with a laser device on top of it, cords reach from the hands to the back of the suit. His chest has two green reflectors, his shoulder has a plate. Jack soon waves his arms and bends back as he loses his balance, then leans his gut forward nervously as he slips.

Cut to Danny, Maddie and Jasmine at the table. Maddie is standing, Danny and Jasmine are sitting. Jack crashes belly-first on the table, crushing it to pieces and face-planting on the ground, grunting in pain. Danny turns his head up and looks down, Maddie looks forward, Jasmine rolls her eyes downward as the debris flies and the dust clouds rise. Glass is heard shattering. Danny stands up and turns to his mother, smiling.

DANNY: Well,--

Maddie and Jasmine turn to him as he turns to the left and walks away.

DANNY: --enjoy your chat!

Cut to Jasmine. She groans miserably.

It’s Tuesday. Spectra’s plans are just one more day away.

Fade to an aerial shot of Casper High School. The bell rings. Zoom in.

Cut to Tucker and Sam, both wide-eyed.

JASMINE: (offscreen) Don’t you think he’s been acting--

Tucker and Sam exchange glances.

JASMINE: --weird?

Cut to Jasmine with her arm on the strap of her pink tote bag. Tucker and Sam look at her from the foreground.

JASMINE: I mean, haven’t you noticed how gloomy and negative (turns to Tucker) he’s been lately?

Cut to Jasmine from the back with her hand on her pink purse strap, Tucker and Sam look at her with their backs to the lockers, Sam looking annoyed.

TUCKER: Uh, (lifts a curled finger) Jazz?

Tucker puts the hand on his chest and Sam puts a hand on her hip as an African-American student with a black up-do shaped by his topless visor walks past without a care with his backpack, in the foreground.

TUCKER: We’re Danny’s friends. (puts his hand out) That means we keep his secrets (arches one eyebrow and points to Jasmine) *from* you.

Tucker puts down his hand as Jasmine turns and looks down at her purse.

Cut to Tucker, suspicious. Jasmine holds a bill with the number 20 on it to bribe him. Tucker puts his fingers on it and smiles as Jasmine takes away her hand.

TUCKER: Although…

Sam reaches in and takes the 20, swiping it away from Tucker.

Cut to Jasmine with her hand on the strap looking at a bemused Tucker holding his hand up and Sam holding the bill.

SAM: We’ve all got our--

Sam smiles and holds out the bill, giving it back to Jasmine. Tucker looks down at the cash.

SAM: --problems, Jazz.

Jasmine takes the bill as Sam puts her hands out, Tucker looks blankly.

SAM: I know you’re worried--

Quick pan right to a drinking fountain with a fire alarm near it. Danny walks up to it with a sour expression and looks at it, bending down to take a drink

SAM: --but Danny’s okay.

Cut to Danny, drinking. Above him, a ghost’s green palm phases through the wall.

SAM: (offscreen) He keeps some things to himself,--

The ghost takes Danny’s backpack straps and hooks it on the fire alarm handle.

SAM: --but it’s not like he’s doing--

The ghost’s arm phases back through the wall. Danny gets up.

SAM: --anything criminal.

Danny is on his way, and his backpack strap pulls the fire alarm, causing the alarms to ring as Danny’s eyes pop open in shock.

Dennis questions why there are straps on the BACK of Danny’s backpack when they should be on the side facing his back, the ones with his shoulders’ support. Meep!

Cut to Jasmine from the back with Tucker and Sam looking at her. Jasmine turns around with a hand across her body, Tucker and Sam’s eyes pop open in shock. All three look up.

Cut to the emergency sprinkler on the ceiling. It rains out a torrent of water.

Fade to Casper High outside. Crowds of students are assembled outside in a non-organized fashion, a police car with the number 35 on top and the word “Police” on the trunk has a siren wailing with the door open. Two red fire trucks are parked outside, and two firefighters are holding long hoses protruding from the trucks.

Cut to a crowd of irked students with wet hair by a puddle of water. From left-to-right, a student with cargo pants and a medallion, a brown-haired girl holding a blue book over her short green dress, an Asian with a red book, earrings and sandals, a tall blonde boy with glasses, a tall red-haired girl with glasses is over he shoulder of an irked firefighter with an axe is standing by a growling Dalmatian, drooling at the mouth. In front is a red-haired boy in a letter jacket.

Pan left to Jasmine, irked with dripping wet hair, with Sam’s wet hair drooping over her face and Tucker wringing out his beret. Danny is in front to droopy hair, shrugging with Mr. Lancer looking down at him, his arms crossed.

DANNY: A month’s detention?!

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: But I didn’t do anything!

Danny, falsely pulling a fire alarm is a crime, maybe a federal offense or a felony. You could get fined or go to Juvenile Hall.

Of course, I’m pretty mad at Lancer too, from certain personal experience. See, I was the kid with a long track record of being crazy and doing things that were weird that got me in trouble and made fun of often (You people just don’t understand my way of thinking, and I was too shy to reveal why. Danny’s in a very similar situation, people don’t understand that he has ghost powers, which causes him to drop beakers, his pants, throwing mud pies, get bad grades, break mirrors and such). Because of this, my neck was constantly breathed down and I was the one that was blamed first when problems arose, and was once in 5th grade suspended two days and was pending prevention from attending a school-sponsored event that I was rehearsing for several months for. I’m still saying I was wrongfully accused, and ironically, I was never caught for any bad things I really did (which was only an occasional sneaking into the school’s freezer and taking a chocolate pudding tube once a week, but it was the only way I managed to survive that year). Yes, I confess. Glad to have that off my chest.

Cut to Jasmine, Sam and Tucker with Danny looking at Lancer. Spectra slides in from the right with her hands on Lancer’s arm, looking up to him over his shoulder. Danny looks up at her

SPECTRA: Hey, Mr. Lancer, it was an accident.

Cut to Danny with his wet, droopy hair. He leans back with discomfort as Spectra leans in to him, pointing a finger.

SPECTRA: But we’re gonna take that accident and make it an--

Spectra points her finger to Danny and looks up with her eyes closed with glee.

SPECTRA: --“acci-don’t!”

Close-up on Spectra.

SPECTRA: And learn from it so it (opens her eyes and looks to the left) never happens again.

Close-up on Danny. He blinks.

DANNY: But--!

Cut to Lancer.

LANCER: No buts.

Lancer blinks and arches an eyebrow.

LANCER: You could learn a little bit about (closes his eyes and lowers them) school spirit--

Cut to Danny with wet hair next to Spectra looking up with humble pride, her hands on her hips.

LANCER: --from Ms. Spectra--

Danny looks up at her uneasily, Spectra looks down at him with a creepy, plotting smile.

LANCER: --here.

Close-up on Lancer.

LANCER: When I was in school, I got the--

Lancer arches his eyebrows, then closes his eyes and smiles.

LANCER: --same advice.

Cut to Danny and Spectra standing over a puddle, Spectra with her hands on her hips, both looking at Lancer in disbelief. Lancer smiles and bends down with his arms out at his sides

LANCER: And look how I--

Lancer does a blithe leap in the air with his hands and head up, his legs looking like they are in a gallop.

LANCER: --turned out.

Cut to Spectra and Danny looking down. They exchange confused glances.

Fade to a close-up of a miserable-looking Danny wearing a giant top-hat.

DANNY: And this is supposed to help me *how*?

Zoom out to reveal Danny standing up with a top hat 2/3 his height on his head with a red band around the rim. He has a red sash over his shirt that reads “SPIRIT”. He also has a giant diaper on with a giant safety clip, no pants, and tube socks with two red stripes with no shoes. Spectra is next to him, eyes closed and chin up with pride, hand on her hip and other in the air showing off.

Despite the abusive look, Dennis thinks Danny would be cold with no pants on. Even weather people in Nick movies preferred wearing pants than wearing costumes for failed rating-boosters.

SPECTRA: We’re going to help you overcome your fear of being called a baby.

Spectra puts her hand on her hip and looks down at Danny with a smile. Danny sits in Spectra’s chair next to him, his hands on his knees.

DANNY: I’m not afraid of being called a baby!

Close-up on Danny.

DANNY: (confessing uneasily) I’m afraid of being called a (looks up) loser.

Dennis is not afraid of being called anything anymore. Due to constant verbal attacks from her peers, she has adapted to becoming selectively deaf, drifting off into her own world and filtering out all the snide comments she doesn’t want to hear. This helps her due to her Aspberger’s Syndrome, but it may not help a neurotypical like Danny.

Close-up on Spectra.

SPECTRA: Ah, (closes her eyes and looks up) and therein lies the (looks back down again) problem.

Cut to Danny with the top hat, looking up. Spectra leans in from the foreground.

SPECTRA: You care too much what other people think.

In high school, who doesn’t? You have to fit in and make sure you aren’t too goofy or stupid, even if you wish to be a non-conformist.

Cut to Spectra with her hands on her hips looking down at Danny in the seat. The doorway is behind her.

DASH: (offscreen) Where’d you want us--

Spectra turns to face the door on the other side of Danny with her arms crossed as Dash and two other boys in letter jackets come in with boxes, one a trim African-American with a white banner on his arm and the other a stocky kid with wild black hair sprouting from his visor.

DASH: --to put these banners up, Ms.--

Cut to the three jocks. They all look in surprise.

DASH: Hey, guys!

Dash looks back to his friends, the boy with the visor smiles.

DASH: Check it out!

Dash looks forward, making fun of Danny.

DASH: (baby talk tone) It’s the Casper High Spirit baby!

They all laugh uproariously.

Cut to Danny, who leans down his eyelids in depression.

DANNY: Of course.

Danny hangs his head in shame. Spectra puts her hand on his shoulder, pan up to Spectra with her eyes closed, pale skin and hair, and wrinkles. She looks down at Danny, and then her head glows and resumes its natural vitality.

Fade to Elmer’s Pharmacy. A row of shopping carts are by a long wheelchair ramp in the parking lot. There are a couple outdoor tables with umbrellas, but no one sits at them. A couple kids are outside. Zoom in.

Fade to inside. Kwan is getting a mint-chip ice cream cone from the buck-toothed man at the ice-cream counter. Valerie is by him, looking down at her mint-chip ice cream cone, not wishing to eat it. Kwan licks his cone.

VALERIE: I don’t know, Ms. Spectra says I worry *way* too much--

Kwan stops licking and looks at Valerie.

VALERIE: --about material possessions.

She starts licking her cone.

KWAN: At least you’ll have them!

Valerie and Kwan walk to the right past Danny, Tucker and Sam at the table.

KWAN: Spectra says I’m gonna grow old, broke and alone.

Valerie is still voiced by Grey DeLisle in this one, not by Cree Summer like the next episode. Of course, in the next episode, she does care a little too much if she forces Kwan to chase Danny for her for accidentally ruining her shirt.

They leave. Danny is sitting at the table with his elbow holding up his chin in his hand. Tucker has a strawberry cone, and he is looking at Sam, who is licking her cubic tofu cone with green sauce and a cherry.

TUCKER: (leaning to Danny) Man! It was brutal making you wear that--

Sam stops licking, then resumes.

TUCKER: --stupid baby suit.

Cut to Tucker.

TUCKER: I could hardly watch!

Tucker turns to the right to fish for something.

TUCKER: But I did (thrusts his hand left, smiling) get some good--

Cut to Tucker’s PDA. There’s an image of Danny in the baby suit, looking down at himself while three kids on the side laugh at him, one with a missing tooth, a girl pointing and laughing, and a kid in a green shirt laughing.

TUCKER: --digital pics.

Cut to Danny looking down at Tucker’s PDA.

DANNY: Hey! (looks to Tucker) Whose side are you on, anyway?!

Cut to Sam holding her tofu cone.

SAM: Danny, come on, (lifts a hand to shrug) you know he’s kidding.

Cut to the trio. Sam is seen from the back putting her arm down. Tucker is looking at Danny holding his pink cone. Danny buries his face in the table surrounded by his arms

DANNY: Yeah…I know…

Cut to Danny.

DANNY: I don’t get it!

He lifts his head from the table and looks down at his arms.

DANNY: Why am I so depressed and (arches his eyebrows) angry all the time?

Danny closes his eyes, then sits up straight.

DANNY: That shrink was supposed to be helping me! Ever since I started talking to her, (looks more depressed) I’ve been feeling worse.

Cut to Danny, Sam and Tucker at the table. Tucker has his cone and Sam has her tofu cone. Jasmine walks up from the left, everyone turns to look at her, especially Danny, who gets mad at her presence.

JASMINE: Hey Danny. How’s it going?

Cut to Danny, looking to the left.

DANNY: (irritated) Like you care. (puts his chin on his curled hand) Just go away, Jazz.

Danny’s ghost sense goes off. He puts his hand away from his chin.

DANNY: Oh no.

Close-up on Danny from the back. He turns around.

Cut to Danny looking fro the table while the rest of the screen is blurred. Pan up to blur Danny as the rest comes into focus, Paulina is sitting with her legs crossed on a stool looking into a compact and powdering her face. A woman with curly red hair, glasses, earrings and a pink apron looks at her with scorn.

Cut to Paulina looking at the compact with the lady.

PAULINA: If my skin’s perfect, I’ll be perfect.

Paulina stops applying the powder and looks up to the lady. The lady looks in shock as Paulina shoos her.

PAULINA: Do you mind?! You’re like (shrugs and looks up) the second old woman to hover over me today,--

Paulina looks to the lady and closes her eyes.

PAULINA: --and I’m so not in the--

Paulina opens her eyes and closes her compact a little.

PAULINA: --mood.

Paulina resumes application, powdering faster as the woman leaves to the right, looking at Paulina with more scorn.

Cut to the floor by where Paulina is sitting. Bertrand in his blob form phases through the floor, panning up to look over Paulina. He becomes more opaque and growls with a toothy smile.

Close-up on Danny. He looks to the left.

DANNY: Gotta keep Jazz busy.

Cut to the table. Danny is getting up from his seat, Tucker is smiling with his cone and Sam is licking hers. Jasmine looks confused as Danny fakes-berates his friends.

DANNY: Yeah, well if you’re gonna take (points to Jasmine) her side, then you hang with her too!

Danny grabs Jasmine and puts her in his chair.

DANNY: Here, take my seat!

Close-up to Danny.

DANNY: You’ve already taken--

Danny covers his forehead with his arm melodramatically.

DANNY: --my friends!

When DP was new and Dennis’s sister was absentmindedly watching, she laughed out loud at this. While Dennis’s sister doesn’t like the show, she finds nothing wrong with it. Meep!

Danny removes his arm and makes a wide-eyed confused face.

Cut to a farther shot of Danny. He takes off running to the left.

Cut to the back of the store. A red-afro-ed nerdy kid is reading a magazine. A fat boy in a red hoodie and has long brown hair has his finger to his chin to make a choice. A girl with glasses is standing in the back. Danny runs through the door that has an “EMPLOYEES ONLY” sign up top.

Cut to Jasmine, who gets up from the chair.

JASMINE: Danny! *Wait*!

She runs after him.

Cut to Tucker and Sam with their cones and blank expressions. Tucker looks to Sam as Sam looks to Tucker with seriousness.

SAM: Come on!

Sam and Tucker take off to the left in a puff of smoke, Sam’s tofu cone is left behind and spinning.

Cut to the back of the store into the alley. There’s a blue sign above the door reading “EXIT”. There are pipes coming from the wall, a grate on the wall, and trash bags in the foreground. Jasmine runs up to the door and takes the handle, looking up at the sign.

JASMINE: He went this way.

Cut to the other side of the door. Jasmine peeks behind it

JASMINE: (shifting her eyes) I’m sure I can head him off.

Close up on Jasmine. She looks wide-eyed.

Cut to Danny in the alley with Jasmine peeking behind the door. Danny looks right then left in a spot check. With a flash of light, a ring appears and passes over his body.

Cut to his legs. The ring passes over and turns them into white boots.

Cut to his fist. The ring passes over and makes it a white glove.

Cut to another fist. The ring passes and makes it another white glove.

Cut to Danny on the pavement in a red action background. The shot rotates and zooms in on his face as the rings pass over him, turning him into Danny Phantom. It stops on a close-up front view, zooming out to reveal his whole body. Paper blows back in the wind.

Close-up on Jasmine. Zoom in as she gasps.

Cut to an aerial shot of Danny. Zoom out to see the whole alley with all the litter and Jasmine standing in the doorway. Danny takes fight with his ghostly tail and his arms at his sides, swooping up offscreen. Tucker and Sam run in from the other corner of the alley, Tucker with his strawberry cone. Both look up.

Cut to Jasmine, shocked. Zoom in and rotate.

JASMINE: *Danny*?!

Fade to black.

-Cut to commercial-
