January - "Piping and Welting"

We will make a potholder using two types of corded edges: both welting normally used for pillow edges and Piping that is used for clothing.
**Piping and Welting feet will be available to borrow if you do not own them
What to bring:
- (2) 8" squares of fabric for outside of potholder
- (1) 6" square of fussy cut fabric for center circle
- Fat ¼ of fabric for piping and cording
- 1 yard ¼" filler cord
- ½ yard 1/8" filler cord
- #12 schmetz sharp or denim needle
- Thread for construction
- All purpose foot #0 or #0A
- *Piping foot
- *Welting foot
- Zipper foot
- Sewing machine, and basic sewing gear, fabric scissors.
February - "Better Bindings - Inner and Outer Corners"

Miter the binding for perfect corners on quilts and jackets. Move on to bind an inner corner for scalloped edges and awesome sculptured edges. See the shaped buttonholes on the jacket in the shop.
What to bring:
- Fat ¼ of fabric for binding
- Fat ¼ quilt "sandwich"- (front, back and batting in between)
- Pencil and small ruler
- #50 thread for construction
- ¼" foot
- #12 schmetz universal or quilting needle
- Rotary cutter, ruler and mat or use ours
- Sewing machine in good working order
March - no meeting this month
April - "Twin Needles"

Learn to sew with two spools of thread at one time - for great decorative effects and great practicality. The same technique you would use for fancy stitches can be used to hem a t-shirt.
What to bring:
- Fat quarter piece of light colored fabric
- 2 spools #50 cotton thread the same color
- 1 spool #50 cotton thread in coordinating color - this spool should be a similar value - also dark, also medium, etc.
- 2.0 or 2.5 mm Twin needle
- Upright spool pin that came with the sewing machine
- Large and medium spool caps that came with the machine
- Iron on tear away stabilizer like Totally Stable or Cotton Stable
