We're back in the states, after almost 5 weeks out of the country.  We had a nice flight from Sydney to Los Angeles.  After arriving in Los Angeles, we found out that our flight to San Francisco was overbooked.  Since we weren't in a rush (and sleep deprived :-) we voluntarily gave up our seats for a later flight and each got a voucher towards future travel ... yay!  We got to hang out in the Admirals Club in the airport and get some sleep and read the newspaper.

We had a nice flight out to San Francisco ... here's a picture of Monterey Bay taken from the plane.

After resting the afternoon we headed out to BeniHana (Japanese Restuarant) for dinner.  While waiting for our table we took a walk along the San Francisco Bay and saw some birds walking around the shallows.

We had a really nice dinner.  We were chatting with the folks sitting next to us and we found out that the husband was born in Zambia and lived in the Johannesburg area for a long time.  Small world!  After dinner we headed back to the hotel and went to sleep.

We got a late start today as Robert was recovering from a cold and needed the extra sleep.  We headed out to the BART station and took the train into San Francisco.  We then took the cable car down to Fisherman's Wharf where we had a nice early dinner at a local seafood restaurant.

After dinner we walked down to Ghirardelli Square for dessert.  We then headed for the cable car station to get a ride back but the line was really long.  So, we walked all the back from Fisherman's Wharf to the end of the Powell cable car line ... Pittsburgh may have a lot of hills but San Francisco's are a lot bigger!
After we got back from San Francisco, Robert went to download the pictures from the day and we couldn't find our digital camera!

After several phone calls we found that the camera had been left at a Walgreens so we hopped in our car and went to pick it up ... whew!

We just got a call from Lisa to check on when we're showing up and we're off to Sunnyvale in about 1 hour ... time to pack ... at least we don't have to fit everything in suitcases this time :-)
