The Skinny
2-15-08: Heaven gained a very beautiful sole this day....
Dan Silver, teacher, doctor, husband, father, and talented guitar wizard passed away at home after a great battle with cancer. An original founder of the band when it was a three piece project, he, Jim, and Chris started playing Beatles tunes, Dan's favorite influence. After the expansion of the band , he also broadened the repertoire with songs by the Kinks, the Wonders, and piloted our opening flagship intro tune "Pipeline". Lovingly referred to as "John" by George, Dan and George would trade and harmonize solos and Dan was truly the driving force behind all of our Beatles tunes.
On stage, Dan was a firecracker of enthusiasm. Jumping off the stage and dancing with people during the performance being limited only by the length of his guitar cord. Quite the showman, this man loved to play music!
With awesome sadness, we will miss you Dan. Even sick and in pain, you attended practice. You were always more concerned about others despite your own larger troubles - truly an example of selflessness and professionalism. Thank you for your lessons of kindness and patience as well as your love of life, others, and especially music! We were truly blessed to be able to play music with you sir! We hope you will be pleased with our efforts to continue what you helped begin. God bless you brother, and most importantly - ROCK ON!
