Cyberspace and Society
Environmental Scan Presentations

Gina Agugliaro -  Cars of the Future -  Many of these innovtions do rely on computer technology;  that aspect could be made more explicit.  The conclusions are too vague and abstract.

Katelyn Barnard -  Assitive Technology in Education -  The first slides are too long, more like a paper than a presentation with bullet points.  Many of the technologies you discuss are well established and have little to do with cyberspace.  Give us some details and specifics about the smaller, more innovate technologies to come.

Tricia Blake - Pets of the Future.  How about replacing your dog or cat with a robotic pet?  A fascinating view of several projects that are already underway.

Rachel Boesky -  The Future of Military Technology - The military is very advanced in cyberspace technology, we'll see how much it helps to win the kinds of wars we have today.  I find the camouflage background makes it hard to read, it would be better if it were lighter.

Chanel Calloway -  Pocket Computers -  This seems to be about material that is already here and widely known, try to find more about things that are coming in the future.

Dan Cattel.  Perfect Peripheral.  Computer games are becoming more lifelike with peripheral objects.

Shantina Cintron -  Technological Advances in Law Enforcement.  This has some interesting new technologies.  Several of the slides are too abstract, especially the introduction and conclusion.

Rose Dow -  Customized Babies.  This is nicely done with a good focus on emerging and future technology, but the link to cyberspace isn't stated.  Computers play a role in this, i.e., in mapping the genome, so there is a connection that could be developed.

Brielle Ferreira - What's New in Growing Plants.  This one has no links and no reference to computers.  It also came in powerpoint format in email rather than through Google Docs (I converted it and posted it).

Civvy Fogelson - Psychotechnology:  How Does That Make You Feel?  -  Computerized psychotherapy (beyond Eliza).  Some of this is available now, but I'm not sure how much it is in use.

Daniala Gardiner -  The Ocean -  Too much of this presentation is not tied directly to our course's topic:  cyberspace.  Focus on the robot fish, wireless, etc. (late)

Myles Manel - Law Enforcement.  New and emerging technologies.

Maureen Mathias -  eHealthcare -  These are some interesting developments, but the presentation isn't tightly structured.  Some slides have only links or references rather than bullet-point summaries.  The last slide has too much text for a presentation, more like what we will need for the next assignment.

Jennifer Matthews - Intellikeys:  Connecting Two Worlds -  This focuses on one technology, which is OK.  I wasn't familiar with it, so I assume it is fairly new.  The last slide is too general, give specifics, new information.

Matt Mesisca -  The Virtual Army - Training with online games and virtual reality -  This is mostly about technology already in use, more on future developments would be helpful.

Aaron Mitchell and Burnell Matthews - Military Technology Innovations -  You need to proofread better, e.g, :  actuall  fileds, especially with two of you working on it.    While most of these technologies use computers, you don't address the computer technology explicitly.

Tanisha Rogers - The Future of Education - Most or all of the things here already exist and are well known.  You need to do more digging into future developments.

Laura Mae Ruoff  -  The Future of Medical Technology.  This is an excellent job that fits the assignment perfectly.  Robots, virtual surgery and online doctors' appointments are in our future.

Kate Sampson -  The Future of Social Media.  Social media will become more integrated into commerce and daily life.

Jennifer Samulis - Home Automation - Cyberspace devices for the home.  This reads like an advertisement, why don't more people have more of these?  Is it just slow adoption, will they take off, or do the cost-benefits not add up?  Slide 3 lists too many items, it would be better to go into more depth on fewer of them.

Jessica Schwartz - Microsoft Surface -  This focuses on one new computer which does have some interesting implications.  These need to be developed more, as it is it reads like a Microsoft advertisement.

Stephaney Seay and Jeannine Surace -  New Technologies in Pediatric Medicine -  Some very interesting technologies, but not all of them are related to cyberspace.  The conclusions are platitudes, "children are the future".  Highlight specifics about how computers are being used to help with pediatric medicine.

Marcus Smith -  Computer Generated Imagery -  an overview of the use of CGI in various fields including the movies and the military and car sales.

Jennifer Stillwell -  Autism - This needs to focus more on the use of computers, there are some references you could follow-up.

Love Thompson - The Future of Auto Technology - There's not much on computer technology here, perhaps the computerized design would be a good focus.  What are the new innovations mentioned in item 2 of your last slide?  How do they use computer technology?

Chris Velazco -  Digital Music Renaissance.  A lot of this technology is already here, try to focus a bit more on the future.

Alexton Walters -  All About Twitter -   This is mostly about Twitter now, only the last slide hints at the future.
